Trevor Bryan is absolute trash, he should be used for the likes of a Makhmudov or Hrgovic to obtain a trinket and a ticket to the big time, they both destroy him.

They had to clean the ring after every fight. Would you rather watch classic boxing matches before and after fights or just announers talking non-stop?

Maybe Stiverne can lose a few pounds and try his hand at Bridgerweight.

Watch the Hrgovic-Kingpin fight again -- if your brain doesn't melt - and get back to me.

It's already better than that. It's the ABC call with Cosell.

The fight tonight was supposed to be Charr/Bryan to "unify" the WBA "regular" and "interim" heavyweight titles. But Don King failed to send a signed contract to Charr, which he needed as part of his visa application. So King ends up with Bryan vs Stiverne, both of whom he promotes, for the "regular" WBA heavyweight title, in a Don King-distributed PPV event, with Charr demoted earlier today to "champion in recess", with the promise that he gets to fight the Bryan/Stiverne winner no later than 30 May 2021. So Charr clearly got screwed, and yet he really has nobody but himself to blame, since he had not fought since November 2017, yet had continued to possess the "regular" WBA heavyweight title since then, until today.

As for the Bryan/Stiverne fight itself, I had it scored through 10 rounds for Bryan, 8-2 rounds, 98-92 points, having given Stiverne the 2nd and 8th rounds, with Round 8 being the closest/toughest to score. Round 1, Bryan threw a number of good jabs that Stiverne ate, then late in the round Stiverne finally landed a right to the body, followed by Bryan landing a 3-punch combo to the body. Round 2, Bryan landed jabs and did some good body work, but later in the round Stiverne landed a big swinging right to the head, clearly buzzing Bryan, and then followed by landing looping a couple left and right punches to the head. Round 3, Bryan landed some ripping shots to the body, but overall won the round with his jab. Round 4 took awhile to heat up, and Stiverne was now carrying his lead left hand below his waistband; ultimately Bryan did the better work to win the round, although Stiverne landed a couple decent shots to the head. Bryan started Round 5 with a good 1-2 to the body; the two had an exchange of head shots while in close, Bryan with more and better of them; Bryan mixed in his jab to body and head during the round; Stiverne again landed a couple decent shots to the head, but was not nearly busy enough. Bryan won Round 6 with similarly consistent work during the round, but this round was more decisive because Stiverne was now throwing notably less, seemingly fading.

Stiverne ate several good jabs to start Round 7, then later Bryan landed a nice right hand that Stiverne definitely felt; Stiverne was a bit busier this round than in the previous three, but throwing ineffective single shots, until he landed a big right hand late in the round, the single best punch of the round, but not enough to win the round, since Bryan outworked and outlanded him. Early in Round 8, Bryan landed a nice 5-punch combo, two rights to the head followed by jab head + jab body + jab head; that was his best work of the round, whereas Stiverne landed a few nice overhand rights to the head during the course of the round. Round 9 was the best round of the fight; Bryan landed some nice shots to the body, especially with his left hand, and then landed a triple jab to the face; the two had a nice exchange of big right hands; Bryan landed a good right uppercut; the round ended with an exchange of several decent power shots in close, each fighter seeming to give as good as he got, although Stiverne came out of the exchange with a slight trip/stagger. Round 10, Bryan landed a good 3-punch combo to the face, followed by a couple jabs to the face, then another good jab; nearly 2 minutes in, Stiverne finally threw his first real punches of the round, a wild overhand 1-2 that airballed; Bryan landed a jab + R uppercut + L hook combo; Stiverne probably threw fewer than ten punches in the round, all of them wild haymakers that didn't really land.

Bryan threw a double jab immediately to start Round 11, followed by three more jabs to the face, and shortly thereafter he threw an 8-punch combo (six rights and two lefts) to the head with Stiverne against the ropes, that sent Stiverne slumping to the canvas for the first knockdown of the fight. Bryan landed more rights to the head and some uppercuts, and then a hard right cross put Stiverne flat on his back for the second knockdown. Stiverne was up at 7 (slow count?), and Bryan landed three jab + R hand combos, and then the referee stepped in to stop the fight.

Coming into this fight, Bryan was both the WBA "interim" world heavyweight champion and the WBA #1 ranked contender, although he was not ranked by any of the WBC, IBF, or WBO. Stiverne was not in the WBA heavyweight rankings as of 18 January 2021; however, as of right now, wbaboxing.com magically has Stiverne ranked #11, surely reflecting some last-minute shenanigans to justify having Stiverne in the fight tonight. Right now, BoxRec has Bryan ranked #37 and Stiverne ranked #101. Bryan had not fought since August 2018, Stiverne had not fought since February 2019. The ingredients were there for a completely forgettable fight. And yet the fight was genuinely entertaining, as Bryan and Stiverne proved to be well matched, with Bryan notching the best win of his career to date, and Stiverne looking his liveliest and best since probably the first Wilder fight. This is not to say that Bryan has a future among the world elite, or that Stiverne should continue fighting at all. But for a meaningless WBA trinket, this fight was a nice surprise.

Weren't a bad fight. Stiverne went the way of Sam Peter. Metabolism ruined, and his punch resistance took a serious whooping from Deontay in the first fight.

I wonder what the purses might have been for this "heavyweight title" fight with two dudes that nobody ranks in the top 20, hell, Stiverne might not even be top 50.
