In an interview, Oscar De La Hoya was asked what would the penalty be if Canelo comes in over 152 lbs. DLH responded by saying "it's actually...well uh...we can't discuss that" and said he'll have no problem making the weight.

My question is why can't he discuss that? Is this some big secret what happens if he doesn't make weight?

I realize Oscar is in Canelo's corner and might not want to focus on that possibility, but don't you find it odd that he says he can't discuss that?

Another thing about this fight that was a little surprising is the friction that has come to the surface between FMJ and DLH. DLH made it sound like he can't even talk to Mayweather and that's why Schaefer is dealing with Mayweather. I can't remember a fight in the past where DLH has essentially "backed" one fighter over another like this.

true, it just create an interesting dynamic to the fight. but why couldn't DLH discuss what happens if Canelo doesn't make 152? Is it a secret? don't we already know the answer? isn't it that FMJ/TMT will get a portion of Canelo's purse?

Canelo we'll just have to pay up. DLH just doesnt want to talk because he doesnt even what to think Of Canelo not coming in weight. Not a good look for our sport, everybody is tuned in to this one

I'm sure it's a lot of money I'm sure it's more per pound than the 600k Floyd payed against Marquez. Some poster on this forum suggested that if Canelo was over then he'd have to weigh in a certain amount the day after or the day of the fight. If that's true it would ruin the fight and I can see why Mayweather and team would want that to stay a secret. Who knows though...

    this probably sums it up.
But likely it won't be an issue if the reports of Canelo's last weighin were accurate.

    :deal

    This.

There's even a clause in the contract that mandates a penalty for talking about what the penalty is for coming in over.

It's a big show to entertain us so that we fork out the money. I bet you they all love each other. Why do you think Floyd keeps working with GBP. I'm almost certain GBP had options on Mayweather.

DLH will ALWAYS back up the underdog to sell the fight.

:yep FMJ probably put something in the contract that prohibits DLH from talking about the catchweight. :D FMJ won't even answer questions about the catchweight himself. (remember "ima let leonard answer that one and piggyback off that")

TMT! Hard work!! TMT!! Hard Work!! LMAO

Imagine Canelo saying "**** that I'm gonna come in at 154, stick the penalty up your ass" much like what he did to Marquez.

    Interesting.

Why can't these things be transparent? It's extremely annoying.
