I'll try to make it even easier for you. I said "two years is too long" in direct reference to Canelos spell as undisputed champion, not facing the top ranked contender (Benavidez) You then started going on about some random stuff from before that happened, stuff so irrelevant I couldn't be bothered debating something I wasn't actually debating. Which brings me back to, a duck is a duck until it isn't. You then started going on
You should. You quoted a post you clearly couldn't comprehend and made yourself look foolish with your reply to it. Enjoy your day sir.
if you actually believed what you’re saying, you would want to see them fight each other to prove who is the best of their country.
These are the hard cold facts. 2020 Benavidez loses his titles for the second time. This time it's not for cocaine use, it's for not making weight.. worse imo. Four months in late December of 2020 after Benavidez embarrasses himself yet again by losing his titles, Canelo becomes 168 champion after dominating Smith. 2021 Canelo then KO his mandatory, and goes on to KO the other two 168 champions in Billy Joe Saunders and Caleb Plant in late 2021. All in a span of 11 months. Incredible. A few months later in May 2022 Canelo then challenges himself by moving up in weight yet again and challenges Light Heavyweight Champion Dimitry Bivol. Bivol proves to be too big, too strong and too quick for Canelo. That same year, Canelo gives GGG who is practically begging Canelo for the rubber match an opportunity and a mega pay day. During that time between 2020 and 2022 Benavidez is fighting Journeymen, after Journeymen, including the shot Lemieux. The WBC let's him fight for the interim title against the not very deserving Lemieux. Come March 2023 the WBC announces a title eliminator bout between the interim champion Benavidez and Caleb Plant. Benavidez wins and is granted #1 in the WBC. The WBC gives every fighter one year before they are forced to defend or be stripped. It hasn't been an entire year yet. Also, the longer the fight takes to make the more it benefits the younger man. Canelo is 33, and he has more miles at 33 than Golovkin had at 35. I know that for some of you haters it's cool to say Canelo is ducking this person or that person, but Canelo has one of the best resumes in boxing today, and in the twilight of his career after all his accolades through the years, I don't blame him for taking easy money. He's one of the few today who's earned it. You all wish more fighters would take on the level of competition he has.
Canelo doesn't need to fight Benavidez by any means. He is 1000 times more proven than Benavidez. Canelo already built and cemented his legacy. Benavidez best wins are a Canelo left over and Andrade who has not a single elite win.
Canelo can retire today and Benavidez will never catch up to him despite being younger. Canelo doesn't need Benavidez, but Benavidez needs Canelo for more than one reason. Canelo's resume>>>Benavidez' resume No comparison
Canelo has not fought a WBC mandatory in 3 years. 40 year old GGG Ryder 154 pound Charlo 160 pound inactive charlo (likely next) What a killers row. You know what I wish? The 168 Champ actually fights 168 pound fighters.
Who has been the WBC mandatory in 2021, 2022, and 2023? Oh BTW, he was busy making history by becoming Mexico's first unified undisputed champion and first undisputed unified SMW. So you rate Canelo's career based on what he's done the last two years? Way to leave out the last 10 years lmao. Tell me, what has Benavidez done? Oh yeah, snort coke lose his titles, miss weight lose his titles, fought a shot Lemieux, a Canelo left over and an unproven Andrade. Wowsers!
The fact the WBC have avoided making anyone a mandatory for so long again proves they have been protecting him and what a joke it all is. Why are we even talking about that. Are the Charlos mandatories? Was GGG, Is Crawford? I am judging Canelo in recent years not 10 years ago. It seems you prefer living in the past. I live in 2024. Canelo has been cherry picking since Plant. Bivol was a cherry pick gone wrong, he looked average in his last fight before Canelo.
In recent years everyone is saying he's past his prime. I judge fighters for what they did in their prime. Canelo made it very clear to the ABCs that he was attempting to unify SMW. The WBC, WBA, and WBO all said "cool", he won the IBF against Plant. While he was doing that the ONLY credible opponent was Benavidez, but unfortunately he was busy missing weight and attempting to get a ranking by fighting Journeymen and shot fighters. It wasn't until 2023 that Benavidez made some noise when he became WBCs #1 in March. So you'll have to wait one more month so that your crying can mean anything. For now Canelo is in his right to fight whomever he wants. The funny thing is that Benavidez became the #1 contender by beating a Canelo leftover in a very close fight.
