I'm sorry your so invested in this. I want to see the best fight each other, it's a shame me expressing that opinion on a boxing forum has upset you so much. If it makes you feel better it's not just Canelo v Benavidez I want to see. It's the best fighting each other in every division. No easy fights. Champions facing the beat contenders.
So what. He isnt a 168 LB fighter. Has never even fought at the weight. Hell he coukdn’t even stop a handicap 1 leg 147 blown up to 163lb catch weight fight. Charlo has no business fighting for a title at 168.
Youre not wrong. Charlo is just "a name" and PBC will sell the whole "revenge tour" bs. PBC tryna make boxing into WWF/movies w these scripted fights XD
I never thought Canelo was ducking Benavidez at any time. If the rumors are true, Jermall and Crawford, then that's 3 fights in a row against non-SMW fighters. And going back further...John Ryder (a journeymen type guy) and a 55 yr old GGG who also wasnt a SMW. I am not calling Canelo a ducker UNLESS the Jermall/Crawford route is true. Then, he's ducking. And - I promise you - Canelo and his handlers will say "Canelo is done fighting fellow Mexicans" as if its some kinda loyalty ish
I agree with that. He should fight Benavidez this year, no question about it. If he fights Jermall then Crawford then he's clearly ducking Benavidez. The problem is I think he'll be stripped of Undisputed if he goes that route, which would be a bad look. He needs to fight Benavidez plain and simple. The other thing is that Crawford needs time to move up in weight, to establish himself at 154, have a fight there, perhaps against the winner of Tim vs Thurman later this year, before making the jump to 168 if that's what he wants to do. Jermall in May, Benavidez in September, then maybe Crawford in 2025 makes perfect sense. And if he loses to Benavidez, then he can always move up to 175 in 2025 and challenge the winner of Bivol vs Beterbiev. There's plenty of options for Canelo, obviously Benavidez is a huge risk, and he could lose his titles, but even if he lost the fans would respect him more for making this fight happen.
Nah Crawford is 36 yrs old. He's specifically going for Canelo because of the difference in weight and size and since he could achieve 3x undisputed. Nobody has done that although Inoue is a real possibility in the future. Beating Canelo at 168 would put Crawford Top 10 ATG, honestly
