this guy was fighting sporadically for peanuts on espn2 before the contender 2. Now he'll probably get a couple mill to fight DLH...not bad.

Different agenda? Ok so say Forbes doesn't wanna play 'house #$%&@" for Delahoya and actually comes to win.....what then? :patsch He'll just get KO'd for real. Forbes has NO CHANCE! Not a one! NOt even a lucky haymaker, because he can't KO Oscar with brass knuckles in his golfball sized fists :deal

This is one fight! His last fight, he came off a long layoff and fought the P4P #1 :deal So much for "handpicking the easiest challenges"

Forbes is an employee of GBP. He is one of Oscars sparring partners. So heres a guy who gets in the ring with Oscar fight night and make Oscar look bad??
Hell no he doesn't want to beat up on his boss and lose his job. Not only is Oscar picking a guy to fight who fights at 140 to 148 lbs, is 5' 7" with a 68" reach but he picks one of his employees.   Good God does anyone really think forbes is going to try to win? Oscar has covered all bases to be assured of a win. Sorry nuthuggers but his days of walking on water are over if he has to go through all that just to get a win. How pathetic.

None of that really matters as Forbes is not the same calibur fighter that DLH is..PERIOD. Age does not matter......I saw something in the promotional crap that said Forbes has never been knocked down as a pro...well, I have heard that plenty of times prior to a DLH fight...and then the guy goes down from a flash knockdown in round 1.....and this size crap is ridiculous....DLH started off at 130lbs!!!! Even if they both met at 140lbs, DLH would either KO Forbes or knock him down 3 or 4 times during the fight....this is a warm up/tune up fight for DLH...since he hasn't fought since last May....he could of just sparred Forbes during his training...but instead, he puts it on HBO for free so we can get a show.....what gets me, is that some of you think DLH needs to fix a fight against Forbes to win???? Give me a break, were you all blind last May when FM ran away from DLH the entire fight...slap boxing him to death....and that is the PFP #1. Reality check....DLH will get some rounds in against Forbes and is capable of taking him out whenever he chooses....that is the truth of it..and that is probably what most of you hate about this fight...which again, is nothing more than a free show that DLH is putting on for the fans....:thumbsup

How many abandoned ship after your horrible prediction for the RJJ vs. Tito matchup....:huh But hey, not all is lost...you got to type in one of your favorite words "Oscarsexual" and that has to count for something! :thumbsup Someone give Jack a cookie! :hi:

This thread really wasn't intended to be a battleground for Oscar haters and nuthuggers...but I guess 98% of ESB falls into one of the two categories, eh? :yep

I am, or rather was when I posted the pic and thread, looking at this from an Oscar-neutral POV - that is, looking at Forbes' legacy and how - much like Ike Quartey - his is being pointlessly tarnished by the lure of money in a hopeless fight with a much bigger man - and that's a shame as, like Ike, he deserves better than to close out his career as a well-paid no-hoper for a big bully. That's my only point here. No further discussion needed. The two sides of the Oscar war can keep their eternal stalemate in the threads created by their ranks. :good

DLH fought twice at 130 lbs, back in 1994. Along with Gatti, he was the largest 130 lb. fighter ever. It was 14 years ago. Ray Robinson started at lightweight, 14 years later he was a middleweight. Thomas Hearns started as a welterweight. 14 years later he was a light heavyweight. DLH's a jr. middle and has been for over 6 years.

DLH is obviously the bigger guy, but it means **** all anyway. This is just a tune-up and a commercial for the big event in September. Floyd's smaller too, but at least he's an elite smaller guy.

I'm sure Forbes has little complaint with being a "well-paid no hoper for a big bully".

I think most jr. welters and welters would have no problem with fighting the bigger DLH for the largest payday they have received.

Did I ask what Forbes himself thinks? I'll go ahead and answer that for you. No.

You're the tenth person to bring that up too, which means nobody has gotten the point of this thread. I'm not concerned (at least in the context of my original point here) about bread on Forbes' family's table or any of the temporary gain for him from this deal. I'm talking about the needless damage to an accomplished prizefighter's record, which will outlive him, and all of us (bad enough it has him losing to a guy like Brewer :yep..."but OMG he made so much money on the Contender, IB! He has no complaints! We're not getting your point AT ALL!"). He may not be thinking of it, and the rest of you may not, but I am. What's in his best interest financially isn't in his best interest as a pro boxer - and not knowing the guy personally, I give much less of a **** about the former than the latter. There's the temporary, and then there's the permanent. It's like we're having two completely different conversations. Nobody respond to me from here on out unless you're sure you're engaging in the same conversation I am. :good

DLH did no permanent damage to smaller guys moving up like Hernandez, Mosley, Mayweather, Leija, Molina, etc...

Granted Forbes is a lesser fighter than those guys, but DLH (with the exception of the PBF fight), isn't what he was in 1995, 2000, 2003, etc...
