that loss erased all chances for him to fight another big name fighter for big bucks...unless people are stupid enough to buy into oscar again.... and you say hoya thrown the fight?...moronic you are...
He sure didn't put up much of a fight. But, u can thank pacman for that. Too quick and too skilled. "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. How can u hit what your eyes can't see?":nut
I don't know.. something seems fishy to me.. I know I saw it, but I just can't believe it. How can Oscar perform like this when he gave the p4p#1 PBF a decent fight just a year ago. And, he didn't look great against Forbes, but Forbes makes his opponent look bad..(ie.. A young, strong, fast, Berto).. People are saying footwork and head movement, speed, were the reason Oscar couldn't get to Pac, but just a year ago he made a decent fight with the master of all these attributes? IDK it just doesn't add up to me.. I'm not saying he threw the fight, I'm just saying, IDK what happened..
Because one boxer came to KO his opponent. The other was happy to pitty pat to a 12 rnd decision. That was the difference.
I guess that could be it... This was just the last scenario I thought would ever happen... If Pac won a legit fight then that is great... I like Pac a lot.. I'm a fan of his. I've always been the only one of my friends and co-workers to defend Boxing, and say fights weren't fixed, but this one makes me have second thoughts.. I don't see how DLH wasn't throwing... Compubox had him throwing 406 punches, but I don't remember seeing him throw 200 punches. I'll have to watch again and try and count myself.
All props to Manny, he will go on to make a great fight with either Hatton or Mayweather. As for ODLH the guy is a slimeball promoter in my book now. I gave him the benefit of the doubt after the dramatic body shot KD from Hopkins, and after Golden Boy had that Barrera-Juarez decision reversed but I can't look the other way any longer. That was a dive if ever I've seen one. The absence of any meaningful activity, the stumbling and bumbling footwork, and the cartoonish misses were all good enough for WWE. I'm not saying elite fighters cannot be shut-out (Wright-Trinidad) but this wasn't it. What a work...ODLH will be a bigger plague on boxing than Don King.
Please! As long as DLH has been in the game...If he threw a fight don't you think he'd have made it look better than that?! I've seen many fights that I know were thrown, by a lot less talented boxers, and there fights looked worlds better than this! To throw a good fight...You gotta land a few shots, make it look at least a little competive OR you can simply get hit and take a dive! You can't just get beaten up for 8 rounds, and then decide "I quit." This might have been one of DLH's last fights. You honestly believe..No matter how much $ he stands to make as a promoter that he woudln't have some pride, and go out fighting if he could? Come back with some better logic.
Yes I acknowledge that Pacman was using fantastic ring generalship. His footwork, head movement, and feinting was fantastic. And yes, you cannot teach an old dog new tricks. Perhaps Nacho did try and change Hoya too much. However, Hoya is not a stupid guy, he would have reverted back to an older style if he felt the one he was using wasnt working. Hoya has also shown many times before that he is willing to go balls out on much bigger punchers then Pacman. Like a pervious posted mentioned, De La Hoya has faced every type of adversity you can in the ring. There is nothing the man hasnt seen and even in defeat he always made a spirited effort. Even when he looked like total ass against Sturm, he still gave it his all and took chances. Last night though, he did NOTHING and made zero attempts to make any adjustments. He never once rushed Pacman which is something he did all night against Money May (even if it was mostly ineffective). He rushed Mayweather countless times knowing full well he was gonna get smacked with counters. Yet against Manny (whom I think we can all agree dosent hit as hard as May) he dosent even attempt to do so once. Props to Manny know doubt, I wanted the man to win, but like I said earlier, I just got a bad taste in my mouth from the whole ordeal.
