Can somebody please explain to me the situation with ODLH's weight in this fight, I know he weighed in at 145, and hardly re-hydrated at all?
I think he actually entered the ring as the lighter fighter, can somebody please explain what went on with the weight making and re-hydration (the IV)?

    Thanks

I remember Freddie Roach saying that Oscar not being able to rehydrate had to do with Oscar stomach getting so small that if he tried to eat that he probably got full fast.

I have no idea what their plan was, but DLH hadn't weighed 147 in the ring since his amateur days.

Oscar was severely weight drained. Pacuiao outweighed him on fight night.
That's not what everyone was expecting. The main reason Pac was the underdog was becasue people expected to Oscar to have a significant fight night weight advantage.

Obviously Oscar was starving himself to make weight. He over did the weight cutting in training. Had he got himself within a target range and then just cut water weight the rest of the 10 lbs or so... then he could have just simply rehydrated with water after the weigh in and would have gained that water weight right back. The problem is that he simply cut his weight too early, and held himself down there too long. He didn't even need to cut any water weight because he was under the weight limit. Now... for some younger boxers this is fine. The problem is that Oscar hadn't fought at that weight in over 7 years. His body simply didn't handle it well. You can tell that he spent way more time getting his body to that weight, than he did actual conditioning and training for a boxing match.

So, he comes into the fight very light... but he has no strength left in him and no explosion to his punches. He was completely flat, and it showed in his performance. He couldn't let his hands go... he couldn't move well, he couldn't react, his reflexes were gone. He was a sitting duck.

The fight is fixed. ODLH deliberately made him look **** so that pachaters will bash on manny after the fight. and that's a clear ODLH win for him.

Oscar was weight drained because he didn't train for the fight. If he had trained for the fight, he wouldn't have needed to lose so much water to make weight.
Oscar and Shane have both pulled fast ones on us, with their returns to the ring vs Pacman. Just a payday.

Oscar looked physically huge next to Pac in the ring but weighed less. Crazy stuff. Once I saw the weight, I knew DLH was going to get wrecked.

Thanks, I remember seeing on the 24/7 that he was 147 two weeks out from the fight, I think his walking around weight was around 162. All things considered it's amazing that his chin held up.

There is truth to this. His sparring partner Edwin V vouched about how Oscar was being a lazy AZZ in training.

Valero was sent home for giving Oscar a black eye if I heard right, much like Lara was sent home from the Hatton camp.

Just watch the 24/7 series it will tell you more about what happened. The truth is he and his nutritionist fuk'd up his weight.

Contrary to popular belief he wasn't de-hydrated. He took off the weight like he was on a diet so that he could keep it off. He thought this was the best approach to taking off the weight. They used deer, kangaroo and ostridge meat basically anything lean but good old fashion beef. Some nutritionist believe this is better because it gives all the same benefits as beef without the so called bad fats. The reason DLH couldn't re-hydrate to a higher weight is because he reduced his normal weight and in the 24/7 series that his exactly what he says he is doing. I think Roach said it best. "Instead of training for Pacquiao, Oscar went on a diet"

I agree totally.. how do you think Oscar would have done say, six months later , with more sensible training, against one of the champs at 154/160?
