DLH-Pacquiao Post fight analysis.. What a difference 3 years makes!

Light years faster than Pac ... really? Pac may not have looked fast against Mosley, but the level of your competition determines how fast you can throw. Against Wily Wise, Mosley was light speed throwing bombs, and he had a career best performance in that Oscar I fight (if you don't count Margarito, which was not his best, but merely his best in years) and would die before he didn't let his hands go. Against many many 135 lbers including philip holiday, he didn't always let his hands go, and he got mighty lethargic looking after that oscar I fight all the way up to his fight against Collazo, where suddenly his speed re-remerged. Pac has only been reduced to not letting his hands go fast a few times, in his "carry Marco through the fight" rematch, in his "carry nice guy Mosley through the fight if he doesn't press me" last fight, but against Morales, Cotto, Clottey, Margarito, his hand speed was blistering, and even against the superior skilled boxer Marquez he looked fast and busy.

I can't say that Mosley against any of those guys would have looked faster than Pac, just that his punches would have had more effect on his opponents. Mosley never had the volume punching Pac did, against anyone. And oscar was slower than Mosley.

 

So Oscar was literally near death trying to make weight? lmfao, you clowns amuse me

Oscar hadn't boxed at 147 in a decade, was force to enter the ring as a lightweight, and was shot.

The guy was 147 in ring. That's lighter than Marquez has boxed at lightweight.

 

If Oscar had been allowed to box at his usual in ring weight - 165+, it would have been much better fight.

No way Roach was going to allow that to happen

 

Because Floyd fought the guy when he was a legit world champ, at 154, when the guy was 171 pounds in ring.

Pacquiao fans alarm me some times.

Try this for size - Pacquiao has been heavier than that while boxing at Super Featherweight

 

He was also 24 pounds heavier against Mayweather.

Manny in ring versus Marquez = 146

Oscar (a middleweight basicall) in ring versus Pacquiao = 147

The weight rules were ridiculous

Oscar was shot, and 147 pounds in ring when he faced Pacquiao.

The guy was bordering 170 pounds, at his peak, at 147.

An old, shot Margarito pushed Pacquiao all the way, at times at 147.

Truth is, the only way Roach was going to allow Oscar to fight Pacquiao at that time, is if he boxed as a lightweight

 

What you're saying is, Pacquiao is fast, against slow opposition.

The ability to throw flurries, when nothing is coming past, isn't fast.

"Fast" is the ability to hit fast fighters

 

are you serious? Then why does Roy still cry about getting screwed out of one if it doesn't mean anything?

 

Oscar was a millisecond slower than Mosley but they were very close in speed. Manny wouldn't have been able to hang with them at their peak. being 10-15 years from your prime is a long fuking time and tons of speed and reflex's go. When Oscar and Mosley fought Manny they were maybe 50% of what they once were.

 

1. All anyone needed to do was watch Oscar in that fight to see that all of his life was drained out of him making the weight. Regardless of what anyone said, Oscar was drained nearly to death in that fight. He had no energy whatsoever.

2. By what measure was Oscar a Top 10 Welterweight anyhow? He hadn't seen 147lbs in over seven years because the weight was too low for him physically.

 

I absolutely give Pacquiao credit for his accomplishments. His fight against Oscar isn't one of them. Let me make myself clear as well that I am not saying that Pacquiao is "to blame", or that it's "his fault". Oscar agreed to make 147lbs and Pacquiao did what was in his job description to a tee. That doesn't change the fact that the win means very little if anything, however, because Oscar almost died making weight and had nothing to offer in the ring that night.

I don't know why people discuss the Oscar fight. It's insignificant in light of the circumstances and also isn't particularly significant for Pacquiao's legacy anyhow. He's accomplished quite a bit even disregarding this fight.

 

I agree, but you can't blame Pac as well. ODLH was at fault that time, if he somehow managed 147 and rehydrate to a great if not decent weight.
Stellar performance by Pac nonetheless.
