Strong possibilities exist that big-punching Venezuelan superstar and former world champion Edwin Valero (24-0, 24 KOs) could be joining the Big Bear boxing camp of Oscar de la Hoya as a sparring partner during the Golden Boy's preparations for his "Dream Match" against Manny Pacquiao. The unbeaten Valero, like Pacquiao, is a southpaw boxer who is now campaigning in the lightweight division. Informed sources indicate that Valero could be traveling soon to California to help Oscar de la Hoya. Meanwhile, Golden Boy Promotions announced through a press release that an "exciting addition to Team De La Hoya" will be revealed on Thursday. For this bout, Oscar is being trained for the first time by respected Mexican trainer Ignacio "Nacho" Beristain. this is from fightnews,it seems Valero spars with great fighters like Morales,Barrera and now DLH but only fights bums.
I noticed that too. As far as sparring with good fighters and fighting who? Maybe all this will change soon and we can find out what he is really about.
Watch for rumors to come out of the Golden Greedy One's camp saying DLH was hurt or knocked down by Valero JUST to make the dumb, naive fans think this (Pac vs DLH) is actually going to be competitive.
I think that MAB just wanted to help out Valero buy saying that. You know try to get him in a big fight.
Valero lacks the overall speed and boxing skills to emulate Pac in sparring but he is a shorter south paw with some pop so I guess he makes sense.
yes i think he is too. its time Valero tried to get some big fights to see how good he really is. could be a star with that KO power he has.
