Leyenda Chávez (Sr.) in the ring now.

Hasn't aged well. Looking very Robert Forster circa Jackie Brown.

Jimmy Lennon Jr. isn't done announcing luminaries of the sport just yet. He prompts the crowd to applaud Cristian Mijares and Sergio Thompson, who are both providing Spanish language commentary for the card at ringside.

Lennon now introduces boxing promoter and Cancún native (and Oscar's co-founding partner in DLH TV), Pepe Gómez. He looks more like a nightclub manager (or middle-aged rock star).

...and now a weird Cirque du Soleil type of interlude, with contortionists suspended by the legs from a giant hula-hoop spinning on a cable descended from the rafters... :blood

I want to knock both of these limber gals up.

Repeatedly. I would need quite a large hacienda to house all the niños I want to make between them.

Dougie makes the argument that Mexico - or parts of it anyway, like Quintana Roo and specifically Cancún - are up there with Germany in terms of (rare) places in the world that are very hospitable to women's boxing or even home to pockets of rabid fans of it. He then backtracks a bit and says "well, not as big as they are fans of men's boxing, obviously, but it has fans and is something people watch regularly on TV".

The guy doing play by play says "well yeah but Mexicans are happy to watch any fight between anybody..."

Lennon introduces Salazar as the WBC heavyweight champion...which she did become in November of 2014 by shutting out Tanzee Daniel, but that was her last appearance in the ring. So the WBC must have given her "emeritus" status. :conf

It's pretty hazy for me too, but I have like 2 1/2 years on you so there's a few names that stuck. I used to have a crush on Hollywood and Vine.:think

In retrospect...I'm not sure why. They look like chicks from those pocket porno mags they used to sell at convenience stores in the 80's

 You never saw the famous clip of Ann Wolfe sparking out Vonda Ward?

edit: never mind, that was technically at light heavyweight. Ward dropped to 175 (over which everything back then was "HW" for women, not sure when they developed a Cruiser division but it was long after men's) after her unified heavyweight title defense in the second of her three career decision victories over none other than Martha Salazar.
