They didn't even need to fight, the coulda just hands the belt to oscar. Just like Canelo Lara. Why even have the fight?

I was wondering the same thing in giving the fight to the young up and coming talent.

 

Time and time again it's out with the old and in with the new. Really disrespectful to future hall of famers.

 

Not a robbery at any stretch. Close fight that could have gone either way and it went Oscar's way. That's all.

I think I had DLH up by a point.

 

Well, it means exactly what it says is means, he needs to be the champion and take his title. So as you're watching the fight, and the fight is particular close i.e. drawish... the champion should retain his title. Clearly people thought Pea won, the eb and flow certainly seemed like Pea was the general in that fight, and thus it should be easy enough to determine such things. The reality is, nobody left that fight thinking Hoya proved the superior boxer. So trying a SRL and flurrying at the end of rounds but landing minimally, didn't push him over the edge. The reality of the fight that can never be escaped is... Pea landed more and at a higher percentage and controlled the fight. While scoring the only KD of the fight. That isn't a performance I'd laud as a winning one.

 

Sat down and scored this again last weekend. Saw there was a thread on this and here we go.

Round 1: 10-9 Whitaker
Round 2: 10-9 DeLaHoya
Round 3: 10-9 DeLaHoya (I actually had it 10-10 but that was a silly decision to deduct a point for the accidental butt from PW)
Round 4: 10-9 DeLaHoya
Round 5: 10-9 Whitaker
Round 6: 10-9 Whitaker
Round 7: 10-9 DeLaHoya
Round 8: 10-9 DeLaHoya
Round 9: 10-8 Whitaker (bad call on the knockdown - nobody seemd to notice that OD's left leg and Pw's right leg was tangled)
Round 10: 10-9 DeLaHoya
Round 11: 10-10 Even
Round 12: 10-9 DeLaHoya

Total: 115-113 DeLaHoya

I had it closer than the judges but the same winner.

 

Robbery. Pea landed more punches and. Had the kd.

 

I'm on your side regarding this topic. You judge each round independently of the others and independently of who's the champ and who's the challenger.

This idea of having to decisively win the fight if you're the challenger, is nice in theory, but I can pretty much guarantee it's not in any judging manual.

 

It was a very close fight. You could easily argue 7 rounds for both men. Pea got a bs deduction, Hoya got a bs kd.

It wouldn't have been a robbery had pea won or had it been a draw.

I've always scored it for Hoya myself but I can see it been given to pea.

Just a very close fight is all.

 

A draw would have been fair.Judges got swayed by the crowd.

Pea was a legend and the champion. DH did not do enough to beat him.

 

Round 11 was a clear Whitaker round. Rounds 4 and 10 are also debatable.
