You mean the guy he beat and the two guys he got robbed against? oh yeah, very astute analysis there Sherlock. If you go around spouting that bull**** about Oscar losing his biggest fights, it's proof positive that you just go around repeating whatever **** you've already seen posted instead of taking 5 minutes to actually make your own opinion. ODLH got robbed v Mosley and Trinidad and he WON v JCC, Pea and damn near all of his biggest fights. You really have to be kinda thick to think he didn't, or too damn illiterate to read boxrec.
From ringside, the impression that was that ODLH burned a LOT of energy early, trying to keep Hopkins out of his face and on the back foot, but it wasn't working. Nard was just hurting him steadily the entire fight and Oscar was going to get stopped. I believe that he could have gotten up after the body shot but there was no point in it and he knew it. Doesn't bother me, I'm not one of those guys who think a fighter has to die in the ring to prove he has balls.
I do remember Oscar's brother saying that after oscar got ko'd, it was the first time he didn't train at all and wouldn't go near a gym due to deep depression. It apparently took him months to get on with his career and out of the post fight depression of taking his first KO loss. This was stated years after the Hopkins fight. I wasn't sure if I believed the knockout or not, but when his own brother admitted Oscar was heartbroken over it when he didn't even have to bring it up, made me believe it was legit.
It could have been, I'm not in Oscar's head, just saying what the vibe was up close to the actual fight. Sometimes it's different than watching it on TV. I NEVER had the impression that Oscar was winning or going to win, Bernard was just steady on bullying him and way early in the fight it seemed inevitable that he was going to get him sooner or later. Whether Oscar could or couldn't have gotten up, staying down was the right thing to do because it was about to get ugly.
Yea I miss him, guy was just a great all around fighter I was looking at the Gonzales fight earlier today guy was a beast.
I didn't think he would win that fight. I do believe he was winning till the 6-7th round. Barely anything happened and Oscar seemed to land the only clean head shots at the point, although bernard was going to the body more if memory serves. I did see the momentun start turning around the 8th. I can tell oscar was slowing down while hops was turning it up.
The one at the end (2nd from end) vs. Ruelas was his best left hook he ever threw. The speed and explosiveness was incredible.
