Even in defeat he still proves his greatness ... although past his prime, he still took the fight just to see where he was at ... unlike most fighters of his generation, he used fighting the best as a measuring stick to see where his place was among the elite fighters out today.

Thats what makes DLH so great ... its not about who he beat or who he lost to, but more about who he fought.

His resume speaks for itself and its unlike any other in todays elite fighter stable.

He might not be my favorite fighter of all times but he will forever have my respect as a competetor and a guy willing to take the risk - rather it be for money or greatness.

DLH was one of a kind. I think his status will go up in the next several years when the smoke clears on his career.

he was the man MANY loved to hate, but looking back at his career, he NEVER ducked a fighter, and always went for what the fans wanted. Not many fighters are for giving the fans what they wanted, it seems that dlh was one of a kind on that note.
His skills were undeniable and his character will without a doubt solidify his status as an all time great

DeLahoya is respected by many, and deservedly so. He took on all comers.

Ducked Winky Wright, James Page, Vernon Forrest, and Jose Luis Lopez to name a few.

Lost every big fight he was in except for the Quartey win, and even then many, including myself thought he lost.

His character? I don't think raping a 15-year old adds to the character of a man. Also saying "black" fighters can't take his hook to the body is pretty ignorant in itself. Coming across as a fake in pretty much every interview says more than the words he spewed. Whined about certain losses, but wouldn't even mention a rematch against Felix Strum.

Decent fighter, but overrated on ESB. Good thing is, many other respectable sites recognize him for what he is. A good, but not great fighter who couldn't win the big one.

great fighter and a true embassador to the sport. has probably recruited more fans to the sport than anyone else in recent memory. fought everyone who was anyone and haters will say he ducked those that never got a ticket to the lotto. but who has time to fight everyone? gave many tito fans and chavez fans heartburn for the rest of their lives. lost some big ones but he also won some big ones and he deserves respect for the good he did for the sport. carried the sport for many years and boxing would be worse off if not for him.

He is a great period. The guy not only had great ability but the things he did outside the ring were also impressive. Took on any comers and kept it competitive at all times. I honestly doubt any fighter could have been undefeated with a resume like Oscars in fact I dont think any boxer could have. Although im not a real fan of Oscars I really respect the guy.

He had a stellar career but should have focused more on fighting than becoming a star. He had the Tito fight in the bag but wanted to "save face" or I don't know what. With the right trainer he would have stopped Tito in less than 8.

With Mosley he was too busy recording an album nobody gave a **** about. He looked great in the rematch. In fact, you could say DLH v Mosley II was DLH best performance. His jab was there, combos, stamina, focus. How he lost that one, I don't know.

He was a smart boxer, always competitive but he just lacked that one element that makes some fighters explosive.

Oscar became a businessman too soon. He is probably the richest boxer today though. We really never saw the very best of Oscar, it's a shame.

He did lose in the biggest fights, but he never ducked anyone so he should be respected for that. He's done a lot for boxing! GBP is the best in the business!

It doesn't matter if he lost the biggest fights of his career ... he took the opportunity to fight those fights ... he couldve been passive and fought guys who were credited but wasn't on his level and I wouldn't doubt him making it an event - he had that type of following ... they didn't care who he fought as long as it was him fighting.

He's one of the greatest ... and I personally don't like him but he proved to be great in the choices that he made.

He's 24-5 in championship fights 29 total ... 5 away from Julio Cesar Chavez' record for total title fights.

He fought over 20 former/current world champions

Won a world title in his first 11 professional fights

His accomplishments speak for itself but the ones I just mentioned don't get mentioned at all.

Thats something that makes him stand out from the rest of the pack ...

Others who won titles as fast as he did
    Mayweather 18 fights - 1 yr as a pro
David Reid 12 fights as a pro
Fernando Vargas - 14 fights - 1 yr as pro
