You might be right MVC. Garcia has a granite chin. I just forgot that.

Oscar De la Hoya mentioned it on his Twitter account on Saturday afternoon, but it kind of got lost in the shuffle with the big card in the UK.

Then just tonight, Alex Iwamatsu, who is usually a very reliable source for Asian boxing news and doesn't really post anything unconfirmed (and who retweeted DLH's original tweet on Saturday afternoon), stated that Miura vs. Bandido is happening in the US.

    :conf

So, my inference from that is that DLH got his wish and hammered out a deal w/ Haymon to get this WBC triple-header.

Or, it could just mean that Miura is defending against Vargas but the other two aren't happening...but I like to stay optimistic. :D

Fingers crossed! I'll remain cautiously optimistic myself.

    I know :sad2

It was Danny on a red carpet looking like a 4 year old who's been allowed to pick his own clothes for the first time. And yes, a 4 year old with a terrible haircut :deal

    Not surprised, in the least.

The dude's haircut is normal... yet Super Hans loves to rip him for it all the time, wonder why... :think

    All three are so juicy.

Robin Hood is an upset artist in the Salido mold. He could really spell problems for Mr. Russell, although he faces a massive speed deficit so it could end up resembling the Jhonny Gonzalez match.

Vargas is a rising star, while Miura's a proven quantity (if unknown in the West) and their styles are guaranteed to mesh with explosive results.

Garcia vs. Matthysse II, what more need really be said? :D

Doesn't Oscar have nothing to do with Garcia's career officially though?

It is clearly Oscar wishful thinking to maximize Matthysse's, and thus his own, payday.

Oscar promotes the WBC mandatory challengers in all three bouts. So Matthysse, Castellanos & Vargas.

He needs to coordinate with Haymon (Garcia & Russell) and Teiken Promotions (Miura) to get this done.

    Ambitious...I hope it works.

I highly doubt Garcia vs. Matthysse II, for many reasons.

Other two seem realistic and am hopeful for.

    (isn't Postol the WBC mando??)

Yeah...it's weird and complicated. The WBC named Matthysse the mandatory last month. He and Postol are essentially co-#1 at this point, instead of 1 & 2. Garcia vs. Postol was supposed to happen in August with the winner mandated to make an immediate defense vs. Matthysse, but here we are two months out and no progress on a Garcia vs. Postol match-up. If he doesn't fight Postol, then Garcia is stripped (likely to shrug and move up to 147) and Postol vs. Matthysse will be for the vacant title.

BUT, Oscar seems to believe he can negotiate the rematch. Presumably that means after Garcia vs. Postol, which means it also involves convincing Garcia to finally oblige his mandatory. (Postol fought on the last Garcia undercard as part of their supposed arrangement)
