i think legend's right. hopkins, mosley etc.... are probably the ones who get paid their salary by dlh.
What the hell is wrong with everyone? Hoya owns the company, of course he doesn't have a salary. He's a stockholder. Like any stockholder, he makes his money through marker appreciation of the company as well as profits.
It's not a publicly traded company. However, that doesn't mean that it doesn't have stockholders. A stockholder is another term for someone that has equity(ownership) in a company. If you started your own company, and put up all the money yourself, you would be the sole stockholder. You wouldn't set a salary for yourself either. You would pay all of your expenses and then keep the profits. The same concept applies for the owner of any company. I'm not trying to be a dick.
You're first sentance just seemed a little dick-ish. Or I took it the wrong way. Either way, appreciate the explanation. :thumbsup
Actually, more than likely he does pay himself a base salary out of the corporation, for tax purposes of the company itself.
From my understanding this is a partnership isnt it? I thought Mosley and Hopkins were his Partners owning a small percentage of GBP. Making DLH the Majority owner. The owners can get a salary if they chose to. It all gets drawn up in a document that is usually written up at the beginning which is called "articles of partnership" In this document you state who gets what and when. Usually all partners get a salary plus a percentage of the end of the year profits depending on the ownership you have. Thats if it is a partnership though.... I dont know if it is or if he is just the owner and MOsley and Hopkins work for him. If thats the case then he ends up keeping whatever he wants and make withdrawals out of the companys capital.
This isn't really true at all. it is not the least bit uncommon for owners of S-Corporations to pay themselves a salary. I am not saying this is the case with GBP as I don't know jack **** about them but most people in Oscar's position pay themselves a salary in addition to taking a portion of the profits from the business.
I think there's some miscommunication going on here. I don't think I made my position clear. Owners of a corporation do not get a salary. If an owner of a corporation does happen to get a salary, it's because they have another role in the company. For example, Bill Gates used to serve as chairman/director of Microsoft. He received a salary for that role, not as a majority stockholder. Gates no longer serves that role. If you look at Microsoft's 2007 financial statements, you won't find any compensation figures for Gates. Oscar does serve as president of GBP, so he probably receives a salary for that role(probably only a couple hundred thousand at the most). Oscar can vacate this role at any time and still maintain ownership. As far as how much he makes from being the owner of the company, that all depends on how profits the company takes in.
