Saturday in Cøpenhagen, 8 rounds @ super middleweight as chief support of Ditlev Rossing's first defense of the WBC Youth world cruiserweight title against Miguel Ángel Peralta in the main event. "Night Wolf" is widely considered to have received a gift decision over the "Gambian Tiger" when they fought to a questionable 'draw' at middleweight on the Saunders vs. O'Sullivan & Chisora vs. Scott undercard five years ago.

Mendy has more or less stayed the habitual course since their prior encounter, losing more often than not but springing a few upsets and holding two more favorites to draws in their backyards, while acquitting himself well in most of those defeats (holding Lolenga Mock - who later defeated Chudinov himself - to a majority decision, and bagging a round or two each in distance affairs with the likes of Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam and unbeaten prospects Ali Akhmedov and Arif Magomedov). Chudinov seemed to be going off-rails with the loss to elder statesman Lumumba Boy in his last visit to Denmark this January, after three years of toppling very stagnant & ho-hum competition, then appeared to right the ship with a victory over Sergey Khomitsky the very next month (although this has been shown to be a pyrite treasure, as the Belarusian was proven to be totally shot when Vladimir Shishkin dominated him in May), and then lost to unheralded Uzbek upstart Azizbek Abdumuxtar Abdugofurov - making this rematch a matter of redemption as well as the change to balance the ledger in what has been a rollercoaster 2018.

This is actually a more interesting bout than any of the other boxing matches that day.

Is it in Russia? Chudinov all day then. Whether he deserves to win or not.

Same here, Mohammedi almost shut the good Chudinov brother out, and the best he got was one favorable card, and this match will be closer than that one.

Mendy has a good chance then. Maybe Chudinov will be less lethargic though due to that prior loss earlier in the year.

Another draw would he hilarious, and isn't all that unlikely. Is there precedent for two combatants having a series of nothing but draws? Or having a streak of multiple in a row against the same person?

8-10 rounder = way more likely chance of their being a draw. Is the first fight around?

    I've been looking. :nusenuse:

If anybody can find a full-length recording of the Saunders vs. O'Sullivan card that would be our safest bet, as it appears Chudinov vs. Mendy I doesn't exist à la carte under its own name, at least anywhere on the net.

Patrick Mendy is probably the quicker and better technical boxer of the two. Having been on the road many times in other fighter’s backyards, he loses more often, but he is almost always in competitive fights with many close rounds, which are very difficult to score.

I do however still believe, that the pressure fighter Dmitrii Chudinov will win this one on points. And I’ll explain why with a little background story of the fight.

Chudinov was originally scheduled to fight Danish southpaw Jeppe Morell (9-2). That fight was scheduled 1-2 months ago, so I assume, that Chudinov is well prepared and in great physical shape.

Patrick Mendy was originally called in to be Morells main sparring partner for this contest. Mendy was travelling from London in the morning hours and took a small nap in the airport before departure. His bag with passport and boxing equipment were stolen, so he had to postpone his arrival with a few days.

Morell, who in his first loss forgot his protecting cup and had to rush back to the dressing room to get it after the fighters names had been announced, grew irritated because of the delay and surprisingly pulled out of the fight.

The promotor, who had probably already paid Chudinov 25 percentage of his salary in advance, wanted to keep the Russian on the program and make a bout where the winner faces Jeppe Morell, Jonas Madsen or another Danish stable fighter next time.

Morells place was offered to Swedish fighter Oscar Ahlin and Danish fighter Patrick Nielsen, two other potential Morell opponents in the future, but they both refused.

Patrick Nielsen, who is a free agent now, might have been interested, because he had a chance to avenge one of his losses. But he had allready signed a more lucrative contract to fight Arthur Abraham in a rematch set for February the 2nd.

Dayron Lester, a Cuban born Finnish fighter, agreed to take the fight, but his Cuban passport had expired, and he is forced to stay in Finland for now.

In the meantime Patrick Mendy had already accepted to step in as an opponent right after Jeppe Morell pulled out, and therefor he ended up getting a rematch with Chudinov.

Patrick Mendy might be in good physical shape, but he hasn’t fought in over a year. He took this fight on a shorter notice than Chudinov. Also this will be the 4th fight for Chudinov in 2018, so he probably have less ring rust than Mendy. I think Chudinov did pretty well in the last half of his fight with Azizbek Abdugofurov, where he was able to put some pressure on the technical clever Abdugofurov.

I predict that he will be stronger in the second half of the contest and be able to set the pace and put the pressure on Mendy and win more than 4 rounds, which will secure him the victory.

The interesting thing is, that it will be an even playing field for the two foreign fighters with neutral local judges, so it’s a great opportunity both to get that win and secure another invitation.

Promising names on the undercard: Allan Mahfoud and Oliver Meng (19 years), both super welterweights. They will be really interesting to see in the future.

Also look out for super lightweight Enock Mwandila Poulsen and cruiserweight Ditlev Rossing (23 years). Poulsen is very quick on hands and feet and technical clever. Rossing is more crude. A heavy handed slugger. But he is adapting and developing well and his trainer Sherman "Tank" Williams has taught him a lot since his debut.

I have to eat my words: Patrick Mendy clearly won this one with a great performance and outpointed Chudinov.
