I agree he’s not as versatile as some other good fighters but that doesn’t mean he’s way worse than them. It’s good to master the basic stuff at a prodigy level. There’s a reason he’s the only man that lasted 12 rounds with him and arguably won that fight. But if he’s gonna win more decisively the 2nd time, he does need to use more tools like head movement and angles
Did you guys see what Bivol's left arm looked like after the fight? Was swollen to like twice the size of his right arm. Beterbiev hits that damn hard that even blocking his shots results in damage.
Bivol is a good boxer no doubt but I don't rate him that high really. He'll be 35 in Dec.and , he's had 24 fights and what's his best win? An old Pascal. Joe Smith, Zurdo? and please don't mention Canelo. In reality he lost to a 40 year old light heavyweight and even though Beterbiev is steroided up he ain't Archie Moore.
I think Yarde did better than Bivol against Beterbiev. Thus, Beterbiev's best win is Yarde, in my opinion.
uh, you know the outcome of Beterbiev-Yarde right? Perhaps you only watched through round 7? Might want to check out round 8.
@Barrf @gollumsluvslave did you watch the Yarde fight? Yards hurt Beterbiev more than Bivol did. And he was the winner in all judges' scorecards until the KO.
He lacks versatility beyond the meat and potatoes stuff he does so well, and his high guard defence is rather basic and doesn't provide a lot of counter punching opportunities for him. If you want to call those weaknesses. Technically (as in, things he actually does rather than doesn't do) he's pretty flawless.
Dmitry Bivol showed against Canelo (that's near the top of Canelo) that he has few technical flaws. He was so confident in his tactics and technique; he schooled Canelo. He was the first to stay on his feet of those who fought Beterbiev. Then there's Zurdo; give Dmitry the credit he deserves.
So beating the P4P number 1 isn't impressive? Schooling a cruiserweight isn't impressive? Having a close fight with another P4P boxer that he arguably won isn't impressive? You must have really high standards.
I think Bivol is very good at doing one thing but outside of that he's not super versatile but its impressive that he's so good at that one thing that he can be champ and beat some pretty good fighters.
