I'd take the GOAT light heavyweight. More complete and varied offensive fighter. Bivol is rather simplistic comparatively, although he does what he does very well. Maybe it's just me, but I didn't walk away from the Beterbiev/Bivol fights thinking they were top-level historical LHWs (although they're both fantastic hall of fame level guys).
Charles beat multiple guys better than them… Charles would pick them both apart, they’d be guys he’d fight in between match ups with Moore lol.
Bivol would need a couple dozen more quality victories before he even comes to this dance to be shot down.
This is a very good take when it comes to the versatility of both. Charles was equally good on the inside and could be offensive and he could couterpunch as well as anyone. I agree with what you said about Bivol. He is a master at range is great at dictating the distance that he wants too engage at. No doubt, Charles is the most complete fighter. I would say 8 out of 10 times he would win but Bivol certainly is capable of beating him if Charles is at his absolute best.
Looking at the Harold Johnson fight,it might be possible, but to note that this is light heavyweight, explosive Ezzard reminiscent of a more defensive Ray Robinson. I'd say if they fought ten times Bivol would atleast won 1-2 fight though
I agree, I think either of them needed a decisive win to even have a case for being among the ATGs @ 175. That they ended up splitting 2 indecisive fights leaves both of their legacies in limbo IMO.
Charles and Archie Moore both Bivol and Beterbiev apart. Bivol couldn’t Counterpunch very well against either of them. Beterbiev Wouldn’t land the glove on either of them
Which one got knocked down 11 times in their 2 biggest LHW fights? We should name that one the GOAT. I'd honestly still pick Charles I'm just railing about the absurdity of people considering Charles the LHW GOAT.
