Apparently Bivol translate to English means Buffalo:think which is a pretty good nickname. Dmitry The Buffalo Bivol

Can't find a copy of it anywhere. I remember they did this watch stream online for a fee nonsense with Khytrov for a couple of his early fights and we had to wait a week or maybe even 2 to see them as well. That was one of the reasons I didn't want to miss it, had it been on one of the Russian cards someone would've had it up on Youtube within minutes.

I remember saying in the RBR thread for the fight, or at least I think it was, that we might have to wait a while before we got to see video of Makabu vs Mchunu, little did I know we would still be hoping in vain to do so this long afterwards though. These South-African boxing fans need to up their game like the Russians, Ukrainians, Kazakhs and Poles do, who always have their boys fights up on Youtube very quickly.

Nope I haven't seen on Youtube yet, but I saw it live last night at least the last 4 rounds, Bivol looked solid and he had a very good final round and a Khytrov like last 30 seconds KO to put an exclamation mark on his performance.

Weird seeing Mekhontsev dressed so casually. Looks very American in that pic.

Don't forget Gvozdyk, even though he's Ukrainian close enough.

    Yeah it does a bit.

Is that Freddie Roach's assistant trainer Marvin Somodio I see in the far left hand corner of that pic too? It's hard to make out but I wonder if he was working Bivol's corner last night? The fact that the Mekhonsev is there, who I think is still with Roach, makes me think it might be.

It's crazy isn't it. I just checked to see if there were anymore quality or up and coming Russians at 175 and there is. Vasily Lepikhin, Medzhid Bektemirov, Maxim Vlasov, Umar Salamov, Sergey Ekimov and there's a few other undefeated ones I've never heard of too.

Nah, many Ukrainians would probably be offended for calling them Russians.

Unless Gvozdyk is ethnically Russian, in most cases from what I've seen, Russians who live in ex-Soviet countries are still very much Russian and regard themselves to be so.

Well, these guys are okay. To be honest, I've only seen Lepikhin and Vlasov and they're sort of B-, C+ level type fighters, still worthy of inclusion I guess.

Yeah they're not on the level of the top guys but pretty good. Both Lepikhin and Vlasov have loses to Chilemba but the later's fight against him was razor close and it could've gone his way, IIRC. He floored and hurt Chilemba too, which as far as I'm aware he's the only fighter to do so. And Vlasov's loss against Gilberto Ramirez was close too and I've heard a few say they thought he one that, think it was people who attended it like, think Steve Kim was one of them actually. That fight was at altitude too and Vlasov was complaining he was finding it difficult to breath properly during the fight. But yeah, they're not top level but decent quality.

It doesn't change the fact that genetically they're Russians.
