In terms of head-to-head, he's only behind Spinks & Qawi; and in terms of greatness he's only behind Spinks. Who else would you have above him?

Saad isn't a monster puncher? What? Saad would be the biggest puncher Bivol has ever faced.

In other breaking news Holmes didn't have much of a jab, Camacho wasn't very fast and Oliver McCall wasn't that durable.

Eddie Mustafa Muhammad. He also had an extremely brief prime that prevented him from overlapping with guys like Virgil Hill, Thomas Hearns and Michael Moorer who would have potentially knocked him down much further in the ratings.

Matthew Saad Muhammed should rank as a greater LHW than Eddie Musstafa Muhammed and clearly greater LHW than Hill, Hearns and Moorer.

Why are you just straight up lying ?

Muhammad was absolutely the number 1 Light Heavyweight for numerous years and considered the man to beat until he lost to Qawi.

In regards to resume Muhammad would be top 3 of that era easily apart from Spinks who has a better resume ?

In regards to H2H ability Muhammad apart Qawi, Spinks, Muhammad would be be top 3 or 4 of that era easily.

As for power ? Muhammad is absolutely a big puncher apart from the 1st Conteh fight in which he had him down numerous times he stopped all his opponents in championship fights.

And why is it in every single post you're so obsessed with this same analogy regarding modern fighters and size ? You bring it up in every single post and it's tiresome.

Here's the issue with you as a poster.

You make an absurd claim about "Muhammad not being one of the best of his era"

Then you change the goal posts when other posters disprove your original claim and now you're claiming "Moorer, Hearns, Hill, would beat him."

That's two different arguments Hill, Hearns, Moorer, were not part of Muhammad's era so what exactly does that have to do with your original comment ? The answer is absolutely nothing.

Even if Muhammad's prime was magically longer....Hill wasn't relevant in the division until the 1987, Moorer didn't win a title until 1989, and Hearns briefly visited Light Heavyweight division in 1987 until he made the permanent move in 1991.

Muhammad started to peak in 1977 and you're talking about fighters who came along in a whole different era from a decade apart what you're saying makes absolutely no sense.

He never established himself as the best light heavyweight in the world as that would have required him beating Eddie Mustafa Muhammad or Michael Spinks

Id rate the eras top 4 as
    Michael Spinks
    Dwight Muhammad Qawi
    Eddie Mustafa Muhammad
    Matthew Saad Muhammad

In that order. If you disagree let's hear your logic. Moreover it's a very brief period of time which makes it less impressive. Bivol has had a longer peak than Muhammad and his career spans multiple eras

I think this thread is borderline offensive but you are free to disagree. I see this as a complete mismatch

Yes he did he was considered the best Light Heavyweight in the world prior to losing Qawi that's like saying Bivol wasn't considered the best Light Heavyweight if he loses his next fight to a young upcoming contender.

Rating Eddie Mustafa Muhammad above Matthew Saad Muhammad makes no sense to me.

Matthew Saad Muhammad won more than double the world title fights and has a considerably better resume.

Unless you're on about H2H ability but even that's highly debatable they fought once early in their careers which was a split decision over 10 rounds. So there's nothing really to suggest Eddie Mustafa Muhammad is superior to Matthew Saad Muhammad on a H2H basis.

Bivol has had a longer peak yes but his resume for the most part wasn't a strenuous as the opposition Muhammad was facing.

    Compare the names they fought.

    Muhammad fought

    Eddie Mustafa Muhammad
    Marvin Camel
    John Conteh x2
    Dwight Muhammad Qawi x2
    Mate Parlov x2
    Jerry Martin
    Murray Sutherland
    Marvin Johnson x2
    Mate Parlov x2
    Richie Kates

    in comparison Bivol has fought....

Canelo Alvarez = who's not historically a notable Light Heavyweight he's only had 2 fights in the division.
    Artur Beterbiev x2
    Jean Pascal
    Gilberto Ramirez
    Joe Smith Jr

I think it's quite clear in regards to the opposition why Muhammad had a shorter prime.

Also Muhammad had 9 championship fights in just 2 years which is a hectic schedule especially against very tough opposition.
