I'd be surprised if that fight made it to the 2nd round.

Makabu got TKO'd in the 1st round of his first match, that may not bode well for him against the Russian Hammer:scaredas:His chin issues may reappear very quickly.

Simply incredible. I was hyping Dimitry and about what a heavy puncher he is then this happens. Wow, I am so impressed with myself.

What do they feed those Russians/Eastern Europeans that makes them hit so hard?

I think its evolution, the winters in Russia have been brutal for many millennia and the constant physical activity building, traveling, fighting, hunting caused their bodies to evolve to be more physically impressive than other ethnicity, naturally. Same thing happens with animals that live in the cold like Polar bears seals and walruses they evolve and adapt to their surroundings. I'm only half Russian but I'm built like a 5'11 Vitali, and I don't work out that much, I'm just physically strong and powerful.

Add Kudryashov to the list of monstrous Russian-Eastern European punchers:

    Kovalev
    Golovkin
    Mekhontsev
    Beterbiev
    Klitschko

Also, according to Roy Jones, it's because of their diet of deer hearts and raw fish.

IIRC, JCG was injured in the MD loss to Ding which is why he did so badly.

In these cases you have to not overreact due to the early kO. Gomez got cought cold, nothing more but it is difficult to sympathize with him. He has basically been a jerk his whole career.

I need to see Kudryashov get some rounds against someone with a difficult style for him. I am not sure who he spars with but I assume he prepares in Russia and it would be curious to hear inside info on his sparring sessions.

I would also like to see him go some rounds against a decent opponent, but lets not belittle his victory over Gomez.
The Cuban has a good chin and is still capable of beating quite a few top 20 cruiser weights.Extremely impressive to knock Gomez out in the very first round.Sure,he is past his prime but he has never been stopped apart from Vitaly, and Vitaly needed 9 rounds to do so.
