    There’s a good chance that Pirog would of beat him too. He was slick, tall and skilled with power. That would have derailed the GGG train from back then

    Artist. Whoever doesn't like Pirog doesn't like boxing..

    Sneaky style. Genius shifting. Great defensively & offensively. Shoulder roll, great movement.. Huge 'what if' fighter! Huge talent.. He'd have beaten GGG IMO

    That's no exaggeration.

    GGG-Pirog was going to be both GGG's first fight on HBO, and Pirog's return to the network as new management wanted to give him a shot. Remember, prior HBO management had blackballed him from the network for upsetting Jacobs, the undefeated Golden Boy house fighter that was being groomed to be the next money middleweight.

    The winner was going to get the push. Pirog got injured, Proksa stepped in as a replacement, and the rest was history.

    I can see it going either way to be honest . Heart tells me prime ggg would have had fits but probably come away with a decision ...razor close like . We never got to see pirogs full potential . Damn shame

    Pirog is 38 years old already, he a member of the russian parliament, not just smart — a wise guy in general. Also, those serious back injuries are never completely gone — there's always a risk of it occurring again. He's not coming back. Lock this thread. :smile:

    Agreed. Seamless shifting and double shifting, great head movement and defense. I just absolutely loved watching Pirog fight. Damn back injuries man, what a freakin shame!
