I thought Pirog handled Martirosyan pretty easily. The Maciel fight is another story, but I also think Maciel fights somewhat more awkwardly than Golovkin. I'd also say that Ouma made for far more of a war with Golovkin than Maciel did with Pirog.

Golovkin by KO for mine. For some reason people continue to underate this guy.

Pirog barely escaped Maciel while GGG gradually broke down Ouma who BTW applies smart pressure very differently to most fighters in the game. Throws a lot of punches but in a rhythm and at a distance he's very hard to time. Golovkin did a far better job than he's being credited for.

But it's not about who struggled more. Golovkin has true one punch KO power and Pirog's incomplete slick style is open for those bombs. I can't see Pirog pulling an Ouma either and despite the success Kassim got beaten up badly. Pirog is not the outbox type of guy, he's the slick-counter (Jacobs) or somewhat reckless boxer-brawler (Maciel), neither is the GGG kryptonite.

    - Would be interested in hearing that comparison

    - Both left Universum. golovkin has been in a legal dispute with them since 09, its finally over and he's signed with K2 now.

I think Golovkin murders the body against guys like Sturm that stand around covering up, and have no deterrent.

Maciel is down at 154 now...and I genuinely think he'll be avoided like the plague down there as he'd give anyone there complete hell

    Hard to pick a winner.

Both can box and punch, although Dmitry is clearly the boxer and Gennady the puncher of the match-up.

I'll go with the skills paying the bills and the slick breaking the bricks.

Pirog UD in a thriller. :good (maybe climbing off the canvas)

Fair cop, but if GGG lands flush, I can't see Pirog or many others climbing off and making it to the last bell - guy's certain to kill them straight off.

I'd go with Pirog UD with a KD on both sides, however Golovkin's got more than a puncher's chance. There is something about him that reminds me a bit of Tszyu : nothing flashy but subtle tactics to get the KO. I'm a big big fan of Pirog, however. Got to love a slick russian who can dodge a punch and KO guys. It would be a GREAT fight ! Screw hype, give us talents.
