Yeah, imagine the GGG from the Proksa fight fighting this guy, because that was the night GGG would have fought him. I think GGG stops him late, unless this dude has a Canelo type of chin. This guys best win was over Jacobs on his worst night, he was amotionally drained and almost canceled, due to the recent passing of his grandmother, who he was very close with. Jacobs greatly under estimated Pirog that night. Pirogs other best wins are Ishida, and kofi Jantuah, both by 12 round decisions. Golovkin blasted out Ishida in 3 rounds and was the only one to ever knock him out, ever. It would be safe to say Jantuah wouldn't have lasted with GGG either, i think most would agree to that. Pirog was great vs weak opposition, but couldn't come close to taking out two B level apponents. That was Golovkins big HBO debut, he would have found Pirog and layed hands on him, eventually stopping him late or winning a convincing decision where Pirog gets knocked down a couple times and lumped up. After that Pirog would go back to fightng guys he can dominate and look special against.

Pirog was a defensive wizard, no doubt he could have had a chance to beat GGG. Would have been a great fight.

Golovkin is one of my favorite fighters but I can't see him winning here. His defense just isn't that good (I mean it's decent but his chin is otherworldly) and I think he would have a hard time landing anything clean on Pirog. Also, I think Pirog had a good chin. Jacobs did land some good shots on him and it didn't really faze him one bit. Prediction, I think Pirog would outwork him over 12 rounds in an 8-4 type of fight.

It was indeed a great fight to make, shame it never happened. I would have liked to have seen Pirog also paste Canelo over 12 rounds but Alvarez probably would have waited until he was in his late 30s to fight him.

He has one of the best jabs I have seen since Lennox. It’s destructive

It a big assumption for people to think GGG wouldn't hit this guy or be able to time him. How will Pirog respond when GGG starts clocking him, after Pirogs pisses GGG off with some of his irritating little punches? Martirosyan was a good rangy, cagey fighter that landed a few good shots, and got off on Golovkin a few times, but GGG turned up the heat and destroyed him. Those are the kind of moments Pirog will have to indure for 12 rounds, and come out on top. Thats asking alot from a guy who's best wins are Ishida and Jantuah going 12 rounds in both , and a shock TKO win over a mentally unprepared Jacobs. Pirog is good, but GGG has 22 title defenses 20 by KO. Pirog might be one of the rare ones that go the distance, but win, thats asking alot.
