    Pirog reaches with his right hand lead. Maciel comes forward hooking to the body and Pirog just slaps his gloves away. Pirog looks like he's in a bad mood, maybe mad about the point deduction. Big punches from Pirog. Maciel still defending well. Maciel with an overhand right. Pirog pumps his jab and hooks off of it coming forward. They step together with their lead feet crossing and very nearly clash heads, missing each other by centimeters. Pirog throws pitty-pat flurries against Maciel's guard. Double jab by Pirog. Maciel loads up a big uppercut and backs up Pirog. Ugly action, neither landing as they come together and duck at the same time. Maciel jabs and knocks a Pirog hook aside before retracting his arm. Pirog keeps shoeshining up high on the inside. Big right by Pirog. Big left hook by Pirog. Maciel answers back with one.

    Man I was startin' to like Maciel, but he's here in the championship rounds not even throwin' punches....and Pirog is open than a mother****er too.

    I think this is more about Pirog not really knowing exactly what to do with a guy who came in who is content playing slick defense for most of the fight where only trying to win "spots".. because that's what Maciel has really done.. is defense 1st, then find a "spot"..

    To be fair, Pirog is still very dangerous.

    Maciel hasn't exactly been a coward in there...it's hard to fault him for being wary of a puncher like Pirog who might be nervous about losing his belt...

    I didn't mean for that to sound as shitty as it did.

    He was really doin' well and I was cheerin' for him, and now it's frustrating to see him slippin' the opportunity.

    Maciel comes forward throwing the punches in the first thirty seconds, until Pirog lands an authoritative right. Maciel then gets right back to slinging underhanded to the body. All the hustle with Maciel, right now. Pirog picks him off with a couple of jabs outside. Pirog holds. Maciel tries to get a second wind, just blocking outside. Pirog lands a right hand piercing through the guard. Maciel shrugs. Maciel blocks some more rights. Pirog ducks into Maciel and has his head pushed down. Maciel swings big with a left hook and just barely misses. Short right by Maciel, partially lands. Pirog jabs and then slips 4-5 punches. Pirog shoulder-slams Maciel in the face in clear view of Estevez but doesn't get warned. Pirog throws a hook inside and backs away from a big Maciel overhand right. Another clubbing right by Maciel is missed.

    Pirog wins. 116-112 for me.

    Rounds: 8 to 3, with 1 even and a mandatory point deducted from Pirog.

    OK performance by Pirog , to be fair Maciel is sort of awkward with his style , good defense .
