yeh was the other way round. Pirogs team sais they kept being messed around by the Hattons so they took the route of fighting an eliminator which turned into the vacant title fight. He was also Barkers mandatory at first but obviously they took the Jacobs fight.
Macklin has a punchers chance but pirog will put him on the back foot eventually and macklin cant fight going backwards so id say pirog by late ko. But macklin might be strong enough and have enough power to gain his respect. Macklin vs barker will tell us more about that one. Im picking macklin to ko Barker . I know everyone on this board will laugh at me but i believe Andy lee is the only one that has a very good chance against pirog. Andy has the power and accuracy to tag pirog and gain his respect and andy is the only one out of the three that can fight going backwards, he is also better on feet and has better counter punch abilty than other two. If andy works hard on his stamina and is prepared well for 12 hard fast paced rounds , then he can beat him. Pirog is a very good boxer but you can see he is getting called the 2nd coming thanks to his ko over a very green prospect (who i believe will come again). All boxers can be beat with the right style and preparations. And a its very american thing to write off a boxer after one loss ......
andy lee probs had the best chance of beating Pirog as he is tall and randy, can just keep him aay using the jab. saying that i think macklin and barker beat him but loose to pirog. styles and attributes make fights.
I think it's the other way, Lee would be better against Barker/Macklin, but I think Pirog would be big trouble for him. I think Andy's reliance on his reach and jab, causes him to neglect his head movement. Against a guy like Pirog, who will be looking to move his way inside and land a bit right hand, he's going to get caught eventually.
I think people are jumping to premature conclusions over pirog. He is a very good boxer but he hasn't beaten the best in the division or even any of the top 10 yet. Jacobs was not in the top 10 in my opinion.
i dident see to mush in pirog,he wasent that good, just that jacobs was a lot worse,he dident know what to do on the back foot,he looked awful,****ing awful,i was laughing my tits off, the next big thing my arse
Theres a man who doesnt get sucked into the hype. Pirogs a brilliant talent but he just knocked out a very green danny jacobs and not sergio martinez or any of the other seasoned title holders. Lets see how he does against a guy who can punch and move.....
He may have got a few rounds on the cards, but it was 50:50 at least up to the KO in many peoples eyes. People are looking for a new star.
Macklin vs Pirog would be a very exciting bout for however long it lasted, but i see Pirog eventually taking him out in under 6 rounds. Barker would most likely last longer and have a bit of success with the jab, however Piog looks more polished and simply a little better than Barker and would overpower him to a late stoppage.
