Dmitry Pirog would have defeated Golovkin at (160)

I'm not sure if Pirog is overrated though or at least to such an extent that he's one of the most overrated in the last decade or whatever, I mean really how many people rate him very highly? Not many even know of him. And those who do, he's one of those fighters that's viewed as a wasted potential rather than someone who's done a lot or whatever, was his perceived potential overrated? Maybe a little bit.

 

Healthy Pirog is the only guy at 160 who I would even think about picking to beat GGG. Even then it is just a maybe.
Also, Pirog didn't vacate that belt to fight GGG, the WBO was going to strip Pirog as soon as he stepped in the ring to fight GGG.

Garbage ass WBO was going to take that belt out of a MW unification and ended up gifting it to N'Dam and that's the only reason Kid Undercard was ever a MW beltholder:rofl

Umm... after blowing out a Haymon guy noone would fight him. No pressure or desire from HBO during the Greenburg era...

Wasnt until Greenburg got canned that HBO started looking afield for talent, and after things settled finally found a way to get Pirog back on the network.

Thats how I became a GGG fan actually, because Pirog was going to make his return to HBO which was great - vs this guy I was not too familiar with at the time named Golovkin. Thats when I went and watched GGG footage and was like.. ermmm...hey this dude can fight, this is a fight. :good

Then Pirog had to go and screw his back up:twisted: But HBO decided to give GGG a shot anyhow and make the Proksa fight which we all know how that went:bbb

But to say Pirog had all sorts of opportunity I think is not true, he was massively avoided - both by other fighters and Haymons cronies who at the time ran HBO.

 

Bullsh*t. Martinez didn´t have the chin to challenge those two.

 

People are questioning GGG ability after 33 fights and 30 Tko/ko wins but Pirog who has one decent win against Jacobs (guy who is afraid of GGG and hasn´t win any decent MW as a pro) gets praise he would beat GGG. How weird is that?
