has 12 rds taken the drama out of fights and made them less exciting.
Why do we have so many controversial decisions today, are 12rd fights the reason? maybe many of the guys who would be gone in the 13th, 14th or 15th rd today get to limp into rd 12 hanging on and benefiting from close early rds ..

Im not sure, What do you guys think?

I never saw 15 rounds live, but honestly I can imagine it getting quite ugly, espeacially for the HW. Plus it was a good idea, you're more likely to get brain damage with that many rounds.

15 rounds certainly sorted the men out from the boys in a lot of cases.

12 or 15 hasnt been proven to cause more or less brain damage. My essential question is do they make the bouts less entertaining, does it change fight styles and the emphasis on different things that impact the action and entertainment value of the fights.

i think it makes fights more exciting if anything because of the fact that most fighters (these days anyways) end up gassing in the championship rounds in modern 12 round fights. this leads to a decrease in entertainment value. the more tired fighters are, the more clinching and less fighting. i also think it shortens fighters' careers and leads to many more problems with their health later in life.

they both have their good and bad. 15 rounds means a fighter like Meldrick taylor vs Chavez or dLH vs Trinidad wouldnt have been controversial due to the extra 3 rounds . but than again some fighters considered rounds 123 and 4 warm up rounds where if the fights would have been 12 instead of 15, only round 1 and maybe rd 2 are the only warm up rounds.

If they where to bring back 15 round bouts now it would be very interesting to see how a lot of fighters these day would hadle with the three extra rounds.

Could have changed alot of fights over the past years

I do think the extra 9 would definitely make for more exciting fights, and having odd numbered rounds would do a lot more to preventing draws. I don't know the raw data or stats they go off of but apparently the 3 extra rounds are somewhat dangerous to a fighters health and well being.

Hell, i'm all for 13 round fights..... i just cant stand draws. I understand that some fights are legit draws, and rarely are even rounds scored, unless your Teddy Atlas.

BS. 15 round fighters in the past had hundreds of fights. Also 15 rounds would force the boxers to train their stamina more and we wouldn´t have so many fat hws.

Its only logical that the possibility of longer sustained beatings on well chinned fighters is going to be physically worse. It doesn't need to be proven.

Though 15 rounders definitely add more excitement.

I wouldn't agree, I think 15 rounders can show the stamina but on the other hand there's the potential for more action in 12 so it evens out. It's all a question of pacing.

Far from the notion that sticking a modern fighter in a 15 rounder would see them exhausted, they would simply fight at a slower rate with fewer punches. Leading to duller fights. Anybody really want to see Ruiz grinding his way to a decision for three extra rounds?

Even in the days when 15 rounders were the norm, a dominating boxer drift along for 5 or 6 rounds knowing he wouldn't blow it...you don't have that same buffer with 12. It's quaint but incorrect to think that there was bell-to-bell action...only the very elite managed that, and those guys would prosper at 12 rounds anyway too.

I'd actually like to see 11 or 13 rounds introduced...drastically reduces the chance of a draw.

i think 15 rounds is more exciting. In Holmes-Norton the first 12 rounds were good, but the last 3 rounds were scintilating the 15th round was one of the best i have ever seen. The last 3 rounds helped to make it a great fight.

  14. i liked 15 better:good the fighters back in the 15 round days were in better shape and had to train harder, and the outcome of many major fight's were decided in the last 3 rounds, fighters today have it to easy..
