That might be true to a certain extent but.... 1. Calling MMH `shot` is way too harsh on Leonards victory over Hagler. Leonard ended the p4p no1`s 11 yr winning streak after 3 yrs of inactivity with IMHO a brilliant display of skills, heart & ambition. 2. Hagler cant compete with Ray on a p4p basis regardless of who you felt deserved the decision in the actual fight (7-5 for Leonard was my score) :good
As the biggest Ali fan Ive ever known, it hurts me to correct you & say Holmes TKO11 Ali. (Seriously, whats wrong with you ? :verysad)
Why not ? :huh Both were 3/1 underdogs vs at the time the most feared/respected fighters in the world. how anyone can try downplay any of those performances beggars belief tbh.
Show me a fight were Ray put it all together more fluid, fast, sharp & devastating than Ali did vs Williams (regardless of opposition) & then we can talk.
You forgot to mention after Roldan, Hagler other 2 fights he won by tko alot earlier. In which one of them was against Leonard enermy Hearns in which Hagler tko Hearns in the 3rd round. If Hagler was a "shot" fighter, he would have 5 losses before the Leonard fight.
Fair enough, Ali did score the KO & that IS in anyone`s language a better & more clear-cut victory than a close (some say controversial ) pts win but due to certain circumstances (SRLs inactivity being a major factor), both victories were not that far apart as far as `shock the world` type ****. :good
Haglar lost to Leonard for the same reason he ended up with a draw in the first Antuofermo fight. Stupidity! It had nothing to do with Marvin being past his best. Haglar was just 11 months removed from the Mugabi win. SRL had done nothing for 3 freaking years! Marvin was 33. Ray was 31. Ray fought a smart fight. Haglar fought a stupid fight, and it wasn't the first time.
The top of Leonards resume is phenomenal - Duran, Hearns, Hagler and Benitez (I think the win over Kalule was an excellent one also) but Ali's is so much deeper it's ridiculous. Ali came back from exile and didn't look the same fighter. His legs were his main attribute and they were never the same. Despite this, he dominated the best HW division in history.
Come on, that comment didn't even sound serious did it? ...****ing gout. atsch...He did have it though, of course....and severe alopecia.
