Yes its true, because that is the boxing world we live in today where the 0 draws crowds and the once defeated fighter is shunned
It is EXTREMELY important for their marketability. Just look at Fury - Chisora. The fight was promoted on the fact both were undefeated British heavyweights. Now that Fury has won, he retains his '0' and his media mentions keep growing. Chisora on the other hand has an unsightly '1' on his record and where is he? He's the forgotton man. Another example is Deontay Wilder - a guy with a thus-far padded record. His team are taking things slow, letting him build his experience. That's fine. What isn't fine is how hyped up he is.
Well Chavezs Jr. because of his name, and lack of skill (even though he does great body work) NEEDS to be undefeated or he will be seen as a "hype-job" who cannot live up to the family name.. he has tall shoes to fill and Arum sees a lot of money to milk out of him which is why he This content is protected faces tomato can after tomato can..... I think if Canelo loses, it could have the same effect, nobody watching anymore, unless he steps up his competition right now and shows a lot of gutsy heart... Oscar gained more and more fans after his loses and look at Ortiz today.... he doesn't have to live up to any name... just some hype as oppose to JCC Jr.... who we all know is trying to reach his dad's undefeated mark...
Not really. In Mexico we really dont hold undefeated records as highly. If you are exciting we will watch you. Chavez does numbers because of his dads name and Arum promotes that very well. Our fanbase knows he doesnt have the goods and that he is very limited. Canelo well the kid has it all. Charisma skills and the composure of a champ. That one is pretty self explanatory.
