Do amateur boxers always go full power or do they hold back?

    unless you're doing the major AIBA sanctioned ones, no. As far as I know, they are the only ones ditching headgear for the reasons i cited if i'm not mistaken.

    But if they ditch the headgear and change scoring major tournaments like in European championships for example, it sounds weird that they keep headgear and scoring same in smaller tournaments where you can quolify for them.
