Would you say that American fighters get much more hype than others around the world? Ala Broner, Seth, etc?

No I would say British fighters hold that title.

No. Every fighter knows they're not truly tested or made it until they fight in America which always has been and will be the mecca of boxing. You ain't earned your stripes til you fight here. Many, many a visiting or foreign fighter with unbeaten records or high regard have gotten humbled and brought back to reality against journeymen or fighting in America. Aside the heavyweight division, America is still the place to fight. Even Americans might be harsh on Floyd, but even he's earned some respect. Americans have it tougher than most they fight fighters from all over while foreign fighters usually fight local fighters for their first 20-25 fights. Americans don't have that luxury.

You seriously ask this question while there's another thread saying George Groves will knock Ward out? The british are definitely the hype champs. George Groves will get exposed by a lesser fighter than Ward.

The Brits hype everyone up. Kell Brook, George Groves, and David Price are the current recipients. Imagine the amount of nuthuggery will happen when Joshua turns pro.

I'm sure most people are guilty of hyping their favorites and undoubtely people will hype their own countrymen - everyone wants to see one of their own do well - but I cannot say whether American fighters get more hype in comparison to other nations. Undoubtedly there is a large level of hype behind certain American boxers but there is also a lot of hype behind certain British boxers and certain European boxers, so its really a matter of comparing the levels of hype each recieve compared to the others and how much of that hype is justified, and I'm afraid I am simply not knowledgeable enough about Boxing to do that.

That being said I have noticed since gaining a passing interest in the sport that there is a considerable contingent of American boxing fans on the web who believe that no one can be great or even good at boxing unless they are American, and frequent targets for said contingent are Lennox Lewis and Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko - which, in this context, is probably the only way you'll likely see the fans of those three men in agreement with each other - which is not to say this is a universal truth, it is just an observation from a newbie.

if an american fighter is "hyped" it doesn't take long to expose them...

the uk fighter can go their whole careers avoiding americans...or real challenges before they are exposed.

****...let the uk fighters have to fight guys from mexico with 11-13 records and see how well they do.
