Do any GGG fans think he could have been competitive against the following:

Dumb thread. NO ONE, i mean, NO ONE beats prime GGG in hypothetical fights.

He'd be competitive with all of them but he probably only beats 2 or 3 of them.

Well I wouldn't compare anyone to Roy Jones as he was an absolute freak but as were mentioning Jones you might wanna check out his recent comments on GGG and what Jacobs would have to do to win,he said not only would he have to cope with the power but Golovkins boxing skills are so impeccable he could probably win by utilising only his jab on the night, everyone's entitled to their opinion but when you hear folk go on about GGGs glass jaw and how Brook exposed him by winning one round at a push then those opinions are totally baseless and totally opposite to what those in and around boxing think.

Every time Jackson lost it was by KO. Golovkin is a big puncher. I reckon he could do it by 3 as well. ;)

The main difference that separates the legends on this list apart from G's opponents(except Brook), is all these guys lead and dictate the pace. Brook showed that you can have success if you are first. Imagine Hagler standing in front of G instead of Brook. A legitimate middleweight leading the action, not trying to see what G is going to do then react. Or James Toney, standing right in front of G slipping shots and coming back with shots on the inside that G doesn't see. Duran, very hard to hit, again leading and not waiting. Hopkins countering and turning, never in a position to get hit after he throws. Sugar Ray, a brilliant combination of slickness and power who can make you miss and make you pay. Calzaghe, first, first and then first again. Extremely high volume, slick and great at side stepping and turning his opponent so he is never in position to get hit after he throws. RJJ, the speed and stamina was second to none. RJJ knew he could go 12 and would work the body. Another fighter that was never in position to get hit after he threw a punch(Prime that is)

The one great weapon G has, that can make the fights with all these guys tough to call, is his jab. He showed accuracy and power with it against Lemieux, but Lemieux, for all his success, could not slip a jab. All the men on the list could do that without thinking about it. If G can land jabs on these guys 1/3 of the amount he did on Lemieux, he could have success. All these fights are very intriguing matchups, but until G steps in there with someone near these legends level, it's too difficult to say how he does. If he disposes of Jacobs in an easy manner, meaning busts him up for 3-4 rounds then steps on the gas and finishes him at will, that will tighten up these hypothetical matches. I don't see anyone on this list running through G, that being said, he gives none on this list a beating like he did Lemieux and his KO ration would definitely drop.

Duran is my second favourite fighter all-time but he loses to GGG. Too small.

RJJ too athletic. He beats GGG.

    The rest ?

He may well beat all of them or lose to all of them.
We need to see GGG in with some better competition before deciding.

Could've been competitive with Hagler, Duran, Hearns and Calzaghe. The rest would've schooled him at their peaks.

I'm mystified as to why people are saying Duran would be too small to beat GGG when he proved otherwise in his career by being highly competitive against arguably the greatest middleweight of all time, and edging out huge middleweight Iran Barkley in a back n forth war putting him on his ass to top it off. Of course Duran isn't too small for GGG. The only worry I have for Duran against GGG is what shape he shows up in.

you do it liberally and have done for years from what I've seen.
one of the marks of a person's character is what they do when nobody else is around (it's a big thing, and says a lot about a person) - for example, sitting in front of their keyboard and posting anonymously, saying things to people that you would not say to their face - because there are consequences for that.
give people the respect you would want for yourself.
if you can't do that, then you need to ask yourself what you are trying to compensate for.

Competitive against all. Would favour him against Duran (At 160, Duran is a true ATG). Think the Hopkins fight would be close, but think all bar Duran beat him.

Yet y'all musta forgot that he didn't even get past the 90's era half assed drugtesting. Comparing him against any MW of today would be flawed going by that alone.
Same goes for Toney by the way. He was caught like 3 times or something like that, and nobody seemed to care.

Drugs tested does not equal drug free. From mid 40's onwards, drug testing was so poor and purposeless but perhaps virtually all were on it.
