if they'd fought them in Dempsey's place?

    Mike Weaver
    John Tate
    Gerrie Coetzee
    Hasim Rahman
    Corrie Sanders
    Bert Cooper
    David Haye
    Lamon Brewster

*I guess we should assume they'd be allowed to get away with a few low blows against Sharkey.

Knew I should have put "Dempsey" in the thread title.

Or perhaps just come up with some better match-ups ?
People did look inside, but I'm guessing matches such as "Maskaev v Gibbons" and "Ibragimov v Willard" didn't excite.

The one most likely to lose was that blob Corey Sanders. Who did he ever beat?

Edit: forgot about Maskaev which was a decent win. But that probably wouldnt happen twice.

Good point, I probably shouldn't have included the Soviets. I'll fix that now.

Haye would have destroyed all three of them, Haye`s fight v Willard would have been like Haye`s fight v Valuev.

    He didn't exactly destroy Valuev.

You could just about have given it to Valuev.

He didn`t land a thing all night because he was clumsy like Willard.

Care to take a stab at the question in my original post?

All of the fighters you listed would beat Sharkey, Willard, and Gibbons, most of them could do it on the same night, fighting one after the other and wouldn't need 5 rounds total to win all 3 fights. Coked up Cooper might lose concentration, but Cooper at his best could destroy all three of them.

None of them would beat all 3. The Sharkey that Dempsey fought beats them all.

I suspect the words that damn them here are "in Dempsey's place."

That presumably means that they have to fight Jack Sharkey eight years after they fight Willard.

Most of these guy's had a relatively short run of form.

I doubt that any of them would beat all three, though they all probably have a good chance against all three separately.
