Do any of these men likely beat Willard, Sharkey, AND Gibbons...

    Cooper definitely wouldn’t.

The last time Cooper put together three wins in a row was in 1991.

I would favor each of them over everyone in that line up.

    Does that make you sad?

If you don’t think the matchups are worth pondering, that’s your right. But why take the time to whine about it, especially after other posters have already weighed in? Your comment is a 0/10 comment if I’ve ever seen one. It added nothing of value.

I think they would all have a chance to beat the Sharkey, Willard and Gibbons trio...but I would call Haye the one who would have the best result/performances. Copper probably the least likely to pull it off.

You know, it does seem like the thread-starter probably doesn’t think all that highly of Dempsey’s quality of opposition, now that you mention it. By golly, I think you cracked the case! Nice work.

When I finally discover what subtile means, I will know whether to feel offended or flattered.

Until then, can we be besties?

Dempsey was my first love in boxing. I read Adam's book the day it was released. I own three versions of Dempsey's auto bio, all the other major bio's, a painting of the Firpo-Dempsey match hangs in my office and I even have a freakin' shirt with that print on it.

Yes, I hate Jack Dempsey with a flame of pure fire.

I've posted many flattering things about Dempsey. I am just realistic about his career and how he perform against today's fighters.

By the by, this thread wasn't about Dempsey but about some of his opponents, all of whom he beat, which puts him in company with the modern fighters mentioned.

Compile a list of the slights, snide comments and flat out disparaging comments that this poster has made about WHD over the years.

Makes these half arsed claims of devotion ring pretty hollow. Next we’ll hear he wears Rocky Marciano pyjamas to bed.

Wasn't there someone on this site who was claiming he'd beat Jack Sharkey ?
He'd never had a real fight but he had the skills, he said.
I'm guessing he had "Pat M" as his manager and chief second, "Seamus" as assistant trainer, and "mrkoolkevin" holding the spit bucket.

"JohnnyB", yes, that's the one. Thanks.

Oh well. He was just a slightly more absurd version of "Pat M" (who says he has 4-round fighters under his wing who'd beat Greb or whatever, and novice amateurs who'd beat Baer or whatever) and "Seamus" (who LOVES Dempsey but always seems to claim Dempsey beat "farm hands" and "men off the bread line" rather than professional boxers).
I'll throw you in with "Pat M" and "Seamus" because you seem to agree and like every time they make those kinds of absurd claims.
But it's all in jest. I understand they are sophisticated troll acts.
    We're all having fun.

As for this thread, I think some of those might have defeated all three (Willard, Gibbons, Sharkey) but it would be a difficult task to do so in the same circumstances and across the same timeframe as Dempsey did.

I’m still getting my head around Pat M voting for Alexander Povetkin KOing old “Little” George Foreman. Not sure that Povetkin stopping Dillian Whyte is exactly like for like. But he’s an expert who foresaw Ruiz beating AJ. I just wish he’d let us casuals here in on it before the fact so we could have had a flutter on it.

You're on fire! Keep up the good work, bud. :eaea: I'm sure all the other triggered snowflakes are rooting for you from the sidelines.
