This content is protected I think Duran feints 3 times but then how the hell he knew Leonard was going to duck and he punishes him with an Left hook/uppercut. It's as if these old timers could anticipate well and execute exactly what was necessary. Is it experience? Six sense? Sorry noob post but I'm beginning to learn something new everyday. :yep
Well it is Duran. He's in the very top echelon of boxing skill, so I wouldn't expect to see it too often today.
Its called watching film of your opponent. That night Roberto was not to be denied. He really hated Leonard for the attention he was getting from the boxing world. A much needed defeat for Leonard and a great win for Duran.
Even though those weren't the cleanest punches. Not even sure if any landed to the head, but definitely effective aggression. Leonard was really surprised by the pop of what he thought was a bloated lightweight.
atsch I never though of that. Thanks. True. How does it work? Does a Boxer see say like 5 different scenarios and choose one to act upon putting it all together in a split second? Or is it more straight forward and simpler?
I think he's feinting to see what options become available and continues to do so until SRL offers that opportunity. Once he's on the ropes, he won't move to his right, back or front, he can only really go left. It's all sub-concious for Duran though and he just has that instinct and knowledge to know what to throw and when. That's my take on it at least.
Very good assessment. The good thing about it is Duran was such a natural when his opponents were backing up, that he didn't have to think. It was just instinct as you said.
