Do any of you "experts" make money on the fight game?

A few I called right recently:
    Hopkins-Calazage,
    Calazage-Kessler,
    Marquez-Casa
    Diaz-Katsidis
    Mayweather-Hatton
    Guzman-Soto
    Williams-Margarito

A few I got completely wrong:

    Cotto-Margarito
    Cotto-Mosley
    Cotto-Judah
    Hatton-Tyszu
    Taylor-Pavlik 1

Some fights are just hard to pick, and anything can happen in boxing, who would have picked Laing over Duran? Douglas over Tyson. I never bet on boxing for this reason

Ha. I had a pretty good streak going for a couple of years in big fights, (back to Pacquiao-Morales 2) until Cotto-Margarito. I picked Cotto, but I was worried about it because of him showing chin problems, and Margarito on the other side had his insane workrate and granite chin. Sure enough I had reason to be nervous about it.

There were a couple of times I thought I should make a bet on my picks during that streak, but I never wound up doing it.

I haven't bet in a while but I used to do quite well in the late 90's early 00's. Vegas was always pretty kind to me but taking side bets on Tyson defeats was a cottage industry.

I won like $1500 on the Trinidad-Hopkins fight seven years ago. The odds makers made a huge mistake putting Trinidad a 3-1 favorite. Hopkins was the naturally bigger man, a career middleweight who was champ for 7 years and had a rock solid chin. Trinidad was only having his second bout at middleweight and had been down several times in his career against smaller men. Also take into consideration the 9-11 factor. The fight wqas postponed 2 weeks because of 9-11. All Hopkins had to do was drive 90 miles south back to Philly and continue with his training. Tito was stuck in NYC from his native PR in the scariest and most chaotic time in the city's history. Put all these factors together and you had an easy payday.

I don't make any money (or bet for that matter) on fights, but somehow I've been known to spit out some on-the-spot wisdom that people have taken to the bank.

    For example:

Kelly Pavlik Vs. Jermain Taylor - I was sitting at the bar and I got a call from a friend, "Hey! We're about to order the fight and I'm curious what you think is gonna happen." My response was , "Heh, I'd say the fight isn't gonna last 8 rounds, an' one of 'em is gonna get KO'ed....I'd pick Pavlik. Taylor's ripe to be upset." I went over to their house to watch the fight with them and my friend was on the edge of his seat the entire time (he didn't tell me he bet yet). Right when they called it in the 7th round for Pavlik I sat there smugly feeling like I did my work, spot on. My friend was hopping and dacning around the room. I thought he was just a big Pavlik fan. Then finally settles and turns to me and says, "You just scored me $520, got any other advice?". My smug feeling was diminished and I just shook my head no.

I'm no pure expert, but I am willing to admit I have an obsession with the sport. I've called some other fights, but I'd have to say that one is my best so far.
