Do any of you posters actually go the fights

I used to go to fights all the time in the Chicago land area, but haven't been to one since probably the late 90's... There isn't a whole lot of action around here anymore, and I'll never pay thousands of dollars to go to Vegas, Reno, or Atlantic City to make a whole weekend out of seeing a fight.... These days, I enjoy boxing from the comfort of my living room sofa, with a beer in one hand, and a slice of pizza in the other.... It's cheap, convenient, safe and the view is better.

 

I've always laughed at that bull**** theory too.

I've been to two 2 fights in the last year and a half, and I'm going to watch Haye's next fight too...but I've learned about the game by listening to these guys and watching youtube, and purchasing old fights on DVD. People who go to the fights aren't more knowledgeable or necessarily more dedicated, they just have the financial means whereas me, a 20 year old student, does not.

 

I used to go fairly often, when boxing was still popular here. I wouldn't give a bucket of pee for a ticket nowadays.

 

My dad does it to me all the time, "I was there lad...you don't need to tell me".

I fly to Vegas as often as i can for any top fight $$$ permitting, been going since 89 up too 2000 then a 7 year blip & mission back on from 2007.

As yer know the majority on here are proberbly around 20/24 average age & as yer said, u-tube fodder & about 10% like ourselves have & will step out for that great live expeareance. Over here in the UK we have the best followers of any sport, we'll travel the globe en-masse but i think stateside it's more stay at home with the bud/popcorn & PPv.

I know that 100's go from the UK for any major fight in Vegas as it combines with a 3 day 24/7 booze/***** job & better value for yer $$$$ that getting $$$$ raped in rip-off Britain for a fight.

I always tell any boxing fan that they,ve got to go stateside & see how it's done right & just suck in that incredible expeareance of big fight night & the 2 day build up in the hotel/casino bars that stays with you for ever:happy

Yeah really,

I love it when some of these assholes say things like " I sat in the back row of Ali - Frazier over thirty five years ago, and haven't seen it since. " Then they expect to know more about the action in that fight then someone, who just saw the fight on a high definition set two days ago..

 

How much do you think it's going to set you back for the Haye fight? Have you far to travel?

 

Still theres something to be said for being there with a half decent seat, especially for long ago fights, because even though you may miss some details you are part of the event and get to experience a little of teh same atmosphere the fighters did .
Like if you were at rumble in the jungle with the locale and crowd supposedly getting to Foreman, I guess that was more before the fight but still

 

I live on the street with only a laptop to my name so no. I'll see how much I've got in my collection tin saved up ....hmm only enough for a happy meal, Youtube for me I'm afraid.

 

Here in Montreal we have several fight cards every year, and I usually attend the biggest events we have when I can afford to do so and sometimes I go see some of the fights presented at the Montreal Casino. I also have a friend of mine who works for compubox who provides me with free tickets when he is in town covering one of the fights. On average I go to about 5-6 fights a year I would say, and this I`ve been doing for the last 7-8 years or so.

 

ive been to quite a few, i used to live in new york and just recently moved to florida but while in ny i went to a bunch at the garden and also to atlantic city. im only 26 so i didnt have the privilege of going to some of the people classic posters would be interested in but its still an enjoyable experience. i would like to make it out to vegas at some point for one of the big fights out there.
