I can understand if people just don't like live events, but the atmosphere is what it's all about live, and it doesn't have to be a big fight to have a great atmosphere.

A few years ago I watched a fight between two novices at a real dive in Brixton, but what a night it turned out to be. The two kids ripped into each other for six rounds and the place was going absolutely bonkers.

Unfortunately the crowd atmosphere is becoming more and more sterile these days.

6 hour drive to nyc, received a ticket within 10 mins of being in manhattan for taking a right in a no right zone when i have no ****ing idea how to drive in nyc lol. just the fact that im in nyc when i hate the atmosphere there, and three ringside seats sitting two rows behind kelly pavlik and my favorite fighter knocked out. ill trade you for your luck i guess

same fighter different night also tons of money spent and i get to see him lose AGAIN in the upset of the year of 2006.

Thanks for the info,JG.I remember when guys like the Davis Brothers,Gerry Cooney and Mark Breland used to follow that path.In my ruined memory,I seem to remember one of the Davises knocking Cooney out in the open lightheavy class.Wasn't Tommy from South Ozone Park, and didn't he fight Tony Canzoneri at lightweight in his day?

Never actually seen a fight live ,or on TV ,but I have read a lot about them ,so I am very competent to give an opinion on the sport .

You nailed the period, C. Tommy mightta fought Canzonari or a tank outta the ring, but never in it. He won the gloves as a welter in the '50s.

Breland still gives me shudders thinkin' of the dread of havin' one of my kids face him. It was like walkin' the last mile goin' to the ring.

First fight i went to abroad was Dokes v Holyfield in Las Vegas in 89. i have been back to vegas 34 times and been to over 70 venues in the US... I live in Britain and now offer the best advice ii can to my fighter friends and work corner for some occasionally.. Best memories are from the Heavyweight epics between Moorer, Holyfield , Bowe and Tyson.. That Tyson v Holyfield 1 card was the absolute bomb...

Tommy is a hell of a guy, funny. He also did well for Donnie Lalond ( he got that kid a payday) He also was the originator of the contender. He knew a lot of the old timers and has some story's to tell and has a good opinion and a lot of inside knowledge. I was in his gym in queens when he had Doug Dewitt and a few other good fighters. Tommy will make you laugh your ass off with his story's

Breyland was a dominant amatuer and his KO's and dominance in the amatuers were some of the best I have seen. I thought he was a sure bet for greatness
