They're fine, until they split and bits of padding start flying out. I had my last pair of bag gloves for ages. Old gloves are the best.
i prefer using sparring gloves on bags more protection for your hands but ye keep your old ones till they rip as long as they do the trick ur ok:good
everlast training gloves work great just got a new pair of 14 oz and they are cheap 35 dollars everlast.com and request free catalog.
I've always been told not to use gloves that we spar with on bags, since over time use on the bag will effectively reduce the padding and make them harder in sparring.
Yeah, I agree with this. I just use an old pair of 16 oz gloves on the bag, but when I got a little more serious with sparring I bought another pair of gloves for sparring only, more or less as a courtesy to whomever I'm sparring.
Yes the gloves you use on a heavybag do matter I suggest Ringside's super bag gloves, which are 12 0z or their ultimate bag gloves, which are 16 0z. Title and G & S also make a super bag glove that weighs 12 0z. There are a couple reasons good bag gloves are important. 1. The better quality bag glove, the better your hands will be protected. 2. The more a bag glove resembles a sparring glove the easier it will make ir getting used to boxing with gloves on. 3. If you use a 160z bag glove, it will improve your conditioning more as well as your body will get used to the extra weight.
