    fair point.

shorter heavys will have strong legs, so focus on neck.

hearns was a beanpole, focus on legs.

    many intangibles

Or you can improve your chin by putting on 10-20lbs ala foreman and fury

One more thing to note - ome people can take obscene punishment from straight shots but are much weaker when taking punishment to the side from hooks and round shots. AJ and Sam Peter fall in this category. And same goes for the other way around, weak straight shot resistance but tough side shot resistance. And its not just the the side or angle, but the trajectory abd height the punches are coming from as well play a role. There are just so many factors. There's actually a liquid cushion in everyones head in between the brain and cranium. Some people may be more blessed there than others. Some people's brains can just take more punishment before shutdown than others. Also, punch resistance generally declines over time, and the mosr damage incurred the faster your resistance leaves you generally.

So you are much better off improving in all areas related to defense than actually hitting yourself upside the head repeatedly with a ball-peen hammer to toughen up.

Why should Evander take all the credit? Evan was mostly responsible for that.

For South Floridians, avoid drinking unfiltered water as it may be contaminated with Cuban water, well known to cause glass chinnitis. Roy's chin was fine up in Pensacola but during one fateful vacation at the keys, he swallowed sea water and the rest is history.

This is the honest to God truth - I don't advise this but smoking some angel dust will essentially make you all but invincible in a fight. You can take unholy amounts of punishment, not register a thing, never tire, and your force/strength production increases like 10 fold. There are stories with tiny little chumps that took out 4 or more cops while high on dust, literally sent all of them to the hospital. And recently some guy on dust broke into a really good MMA fighter's house and essentially stalemated him for 20 minutes before cops came. Not only did he not get KO'd, he didnt even go down and this MMA fighter can throw. The fighter said afterwards that that was one of the toughest if not toughest fight/s of his career. The drug addict, who said "my bad" to the fighter when he was being hauled away in cuffs, had no prior fighting experience.

Im sure meth would work well too, but if you are gonna get in a fight, the ONLY choice should be dust, if you do in fact wanna clean house.

I think that we should ask James Toney about this.

You either have a chin or you don't, but neck exercises certainly help.

Shortly after his first KO [so winter 2008, not an April fool], there was some semi-serious talk [by Freddie Roach] that Khan was going to experiment with nerve-deadening techniques taken from Martial Arts [being repeatedly hit with a stick?]. It didn't seem to work.

It seems to be possible to make marginal improvements by building certain muscles [e.g. traps], having a good stance, & so on, but, yeah, chins are overwhelmingly something you're born with.

Already mentioned but Foreman is an interesting example, given that punch resistance usually declines with age, it was highly unusual for his chin to seemingly be better in his early 40s than at his peak. Probably a few lessons to be learned there, somewhere.

What about grueling endurance training? Does stamina increase punch resistance?

Being fat probably helps a little. You'll get cushioning on the outside and the inside. This is where Ruiz probably gets some of his chin. His head, neck and five chins form one big shock absorber.
Now imagine someone like Carl Froch with a ton of fat on his head, it might be impossible to KO him.

    Inject titanium into it.

Or call the doctor that Wolverine used to metal plate his bones.
