Do boxers hate boxing? An interesting piece with a renowned trainer

  1. I can't blame them, they learn their craft and love the science but the fight game is ****ing horrible place to earn your buck. Fans turn on you, everyone out to squeeze extra money out of each other, people in power are unsavoury to say the least but control almost all the game. . But who doesn't love a good fight.

It is a DRUG to the fighters the fans everybody, believe the elite all LOVED IT at one point and time like mike tyson was stating the ring walk, the fear, the adrenaline of hearing the crowd the feeling of being like a god when you know the whole world is watching you, but they hate the business, after a while at the top the training in boxing the Highs are REALLY HIGH and the LOWS are really low

Boxing is the hardest sport in the world bar none. Easily the most physically grueling and damaging.

So imagine your job is to get beaten up, you have to train your ass off, most of the time for a meagor paycheck if you're lucky. Of course sooner or later you are going to get fed up with it.

I dont think boxers hate the sport, as much as they hate the training and demand that comes with it.

I dont think its the fighting that guys like Mayweather dont like, its the 3 months of grueling preparation.

Boxing is like that lover that beats you 1 day then tells you "I love you" the next. No matter what you still come back to it.

From the HBO documentary, the court asked him when SRR knew he had Doyle in trouble and SRR said "When he signed the contract".

Seems like more and more "slick" fighters shamelessly admit to not caring about being excited, hating being hit, hoping to retire early and only caring about the money. Some of this may be true of many other fighters, but at least they don't admit it. It's a surefire way to never gain popularity beyond your hometown or sometimes ethnic base.

No you couldn't. This is directly correlated to cable television and the rise of big sports contracts.

The sports landscape changed and Boxing stayed the same.
