professional boxing is anchored on the premise that you have two combatants who sign an unwritten contract to entertain those that are watching the fight.

it is assumed but then it also works that the more entertainer oriented you are, the more people will watch. that is why joan guzman does not have big fanbase. it is a self serving attribute.

    Lol? no.

its up to you to sell your fights whether by promotion or by excitement. If you fail at both, no one will buy your **** anyway

and if you're a big letdown then you'll just be a one-shot paycheck

its not pro wrestling where titles are based on popularity its a sport

swure exciting guys get TV deals exposure promoters and undeserved ranks sometimes

and can be protected by networks and other things to block fights vs very good unheraled not exciting guys

i mean i think boxers dont owe us **** but an honest performance where they tried their best showed up in their best form and made a real go of it

i get mad when guys are out of shape or dont really seem to get after it

i mean maybe trash talkers owe us performances because annoying **** talkers who dont back it up are horrible forr the sport

I do think that they should come to win. I have no problem if you potshot your way to a UD. But if you just show up for a paycheck then I do have a problem.

A boxer's "responsibility" is to win. Their "obligation" is to go home to their
families semi-healthy. They should "entertain" true boxing fans. They have no obligation
to make fights "exciting". Lame duck fans see boxing as "exciting" or "boring" and
those fans aren't as invested in their careers anyway.
