I remember a young mike tyson watching hours of tape of past greats.
If I was a boxer i would probably watch all there is from a atg that had the same style I had and try to do a lot of things like him and even know what gave him trouble and how he handled it, studying the sport can give you great tips on how to handle yourself in the ring.
I certainly would give williams some hearns fights to view so that he knows what style he should be having.
DO you know if any good fighters from today watch a lot of film of pas greats or dont they even know some of the fighters.

On a serious note good thread. I sorta agree with williams/hearns thing although just fighting tall would be basic change that would improve p will. This was isn't about styles but i'd like solis to watch holyfield or prime tyson train. make him see how a atg works. Solis has loads of ability just no determination :-(

That was weird. I thought I had typed that even though I didn't remember doing it and then I looked over and found out I didn't.

I would find it hard to believe that Floyd hasn't watched Archie Moore and Jersey Joe Walcott at some point.

Yeah Floyd's shoulder roll and counter with the right uppercut is almost exactly the same as the move that Moore floored Marciano with in their fight. Like exactly.

Tyson and Toney used to do it.

As of today i doubt anyone takes the time to do that, they rather be on twitter or some *** **** like that than studying great fighters of the past.

Heres James Toney and his former coach Bill Miller watching and studying past fights.

Its really a waste, a lot of fighters would benefit a lot from it. and if you love boxig you should do it anyway I believe. Also watch your own fights and opponents to look for mistake and come upw ith good strategies.

I think Floyd massively plays down how much interest and knowlesge he has of the sport

His father and uncle are boxing encyclopedias so I find it very hard to believe Floyd doesn't watch fights

Maybe Floyd Jr watched Ali not only his fight style but of being outrageous loud mouth off the ring. Only Money mean those **** talk too much.

    :patsch

Floyd didnt even know who Brian Nielson was nor knew Joe Calzaghe's name. And doesnt consider SRL great cause he lost to Hector Camacho.

Roger Mayweather's idea of boxing trivia is "Who was the greatest Mexican fighter ever?"

I'm not saying they're George Kimble, but they know their stuff imo

Maybe it's personal because SRL beat Mayweather Sr? And don't forget Floyd Mayweather loves to act ignorant on camera
