just a question because i just started doing them.

if you dont know what a burnout is it is when u lift to wear u can only get up 8 reps then take some of the weight off quickly so your still tired from the first amount of weight and lift that. then rest and put wieght back on for next set.

count it has one set of 3.

when your done you feel like this:tired

If you do them quickly then they serve as an anaerobic workout which if you combine with your running etc can work well as you mix aerobic and anaerobic to about an equal amount.

For strength you're better doing normal sets.

Training to failure is training to fail.

All the loud men at my gym do it, but I've read up on it and I wasn't very impressed. I'll stick with my 3 sets of 9.

    Great quote!

Whoever came up with the theory of muscle burn and constantly training to failure would not have gotten terribly strong. Puts a huge amount of strain on your CNS and just works on the theory of fatigue, rather than true maximal overload - which results in strength.
