I though this was a boxing forum but at times it seems to be a Joe Calzaghe fan club ...... there are people on this forum who will spit blood before hearing anything said against Super Joe. He's a great guy but this is a boxing forum and people do have opinions on what they like to watch .... but god forbid if you say anything against Calzaghe! Seems all a bit one sided really ................. cue uproar and abusive responses by the bucket load ............ and I love Wales! Stunning scenery and all that ....

No, they just rent it out temporarly when he fights. When Pac, Vlad, or Mayweather fight again their lease expires.

No, because an internet forum is not a physical place capable of supporting life.

Actually, they aren't the worst. You have been warned.

When Pac fights, every Jr. high in the Phillipines is let out of school and encouraged to contribute to ESB instead (actually we have some good Pac fans now though).

To be fair, alot of people also insult Calzaghe, calling him a "slapper".

You don't become undisputed Super Middleweight and Light-Heavyweight Champ simultaneously by slapping. He may not have KO power, but he is a fairly splendid boxer-puncher who deserved his close nod over Bernard Hopkins, an ATG in his own right.

.... OK I hereby promise to never call him a slapper again. Sorry Joe.

This doesn't just apply to Joe Calzaghe fans.

The same can be said for everyone...including; Manny Pacqiauo, Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto, and Wladimir Klitchsko. It's the really devoted fans that seem to lose all perspective when "their boy" is involved in a fight. I can't blame them.

I hear ridiclious things on this forum on a daily basis. People trying to play down Muhammad Ali's involvement in bringing Boxing to the mainstream. People claiming Sugar Ray Leonard conned his way throughout his entire career, and wasn't shot when he lossed to Norris and Camacho. I hear Wladimir Klitschko would defeat all the Heavyweight greats of the past, I hear members of the forum disrespecting Mayweather Sr's ability as a trainer, despite his resume speaking for itself. I hear a lot of crap.

I wouldn't have it any other way though.

    That's besides the point.

Even if you don't like Joe Calzaghe's style, you should be able to respect what the guy has achieved throughout his career. Like someone else said, you don't unify a division, even a poor one, by slapping your way to victory. Joe Calzaghe has paid his dues, and now deserves respect off all of the so called hardcore boxing fans.

I respect Calzaghe, but I don't support the notion that he'd beat the likes of Roy Jones in their respective primes. But I don't call him slappy.

...and the Pac, Wlad and Floyd nuthuggers come out of the woodwork and take over.

Relax people! It's pretty much the whole point of boards like this.

I guess what it may come down to is a difference between boxing enthusiasts (fans) and fans of particular boxers.

Which to me is strange, because I wonder how could one be a fan of a boxer, but not necessarily a fan of the sport (?).

I mean, if your a fan of this wonderful sport, I think you should respect all of those who dare put on gloves and train for months in preperation.

Especially fine champions like Calzaghe, Mayweather and Pac-Man.

I mean, if you want to debate one is not as good as the other, or something, fine, but they should be given credit for their accomplishments.
