Do early 2000s fighters get underrated cause the sport died off back then?

I feel like fighters such as Bernard Hopkins, Roy Jones Jr, James Toney don’t get the same credit from casuals as guys from earlier or the current era where boxing was more exciting. From what I remember (which wasn’t that much cause I was pretty young back then) I would say GGG was more famous amongst casuals than Hopkins was. Despite Hopkins clearly being the better of the two in any metric. What do you guys think?

40 something Hopkins would probably beat GGG and Canelo honestly. But yeah- 1000%. Underrated as hell especially Toney for some reason.
