Do European fans think that Holyfield-Valuev was a fix or bad decision?

    I agree 100%

    Holyfield ran the whole night.

Those who scored the bout for Holyfield must have scored all early rounds 10-9 for Holyfield, where Holyfield threw 1-2 punches more than Valuev.
In my book that is an EVEN round, not a won round.
1-2 ineffective punches more than your opponent doesn't make you win the round. ESPECIALLY NOT in a title fight.

    • Holyfield was running the whole night away (left, right, backwards)
    • Valuev was marching forward (until Holyfield moved away again)
    • At no time of the bout Valuev was in danger, but I saw Holyfield being stunned momentarily
    • To get the title you have to win rounds visibly BETTER than the title holder
    • I saw Valuev placing the better punches than Holyfield.
Of course this fight was a bore, but how can the end result of such a fight be called ROBBERY or FIXED? Ridiculous.

If you think you're not European because you're from Britain, then the original poster isn't the one being ignorant my friend.

I agree, no fix or robbery. I had it 115-114 Valuev.

For all of you crying about your ethnic identity, if you feel European, vote here. If not, kindly stay off my thread, as I need a lesson in political correctness like I need an uppercut from prime Tyson.

Sometimes we use shorthand in life. Its only a big deal to a self important so and so.

Thank you, I hate this. There's no need for everyone to be so sensitive. Nowhere did you specify that by Europe you meant the Continent only. Furthermore, the poster's analogy is faulty insofar as the countries in North America have not entered into a substantial confederation like many of the European nation-states.

It is very simple: Did Holyfield do enough to be the new WBA champion? I don't think so.
A WBA title fight is not a running contest. A challenger has to bring more than just to avoid to get hit. One good action per round is not enough, even if it looks crowd pleasing.

Valuev was never in danger and the punch statistics provide evidence that Valuev actually scored.

You have to give close rounds to the champion. So IMHO it is ok to give a close decision to Valuev.

... nevertheless Ol'Vander has my full respect for coming in in such a tremendous shape! This clearly influences my planings for 2009: Move your ass and go to the gym!
