    This was my suspicion.

I have no problem with Pauli. Floyd is just a hatable guy. Just when I stop hating him, he says some stupid ****, about being better than Ray Robinson or about RJJ... he just doesnt stop.

Do you watch Mayweather for what he does outside of the ring? No so why should people judge him for what he does outside the ring?

Again, I pose my question. If you dont care about his out of the ring lifestyle, why do you concern yourself with how I form my opinions about him?

To answer your question, I love and respect the game of boxing. I live it to a certain degree as a fan, studying old fighters, learning the history, the styles, etc. It rubs me wrong to hear PBF dog on fighters who arent active (SRL), or in some cases not even alive (SRR). It does nothing to promote a fight to do so, contrary to what his fans argue. He is just an insufurable, spoiled brat.

Do I respect his ability in the ring? Of course. Do I like him? No.

This wasn't really a Mayweather question but I got to ask Do people like Ricky Hatton saying that he's gonna beat Mayweather because he's a good person. To answer your question yes I think it is wrong how you form your opinions on a fighter based on personality. When it all said and done you from your legacy for what you do inside the ring not what you do or say outside of it.

Be very clear, I dont base legacy on out of the ring attributes in any form (including types like Monzon).

Im just telling you outside of the ring activity influences fighters Im a fan of, nothing more.

I don't understand what you're not following. Everyone has clearly said that the fighter's personality outside the ring doesn't effect how he is seen in the ring. It effects how he is seen as a person. Everyone has said this, and you keep talking about his legacy. They are seperate issues.

SRR was a ******* outside the ring according to his kids.

People don't really know what goes on behind closed doors anyway.

I wasn't around in the 40s and 50s but I doubt the public was too familar with Ray Robinson using his family as target practice or Joe Louis almost murdering a mistress in an argument.

from the top to bottom on the totem pole list on why to hate any professional:

1)murder (OJ),2) dog fighting (Vick),3) wife beating (Corrales, Jason Kidd), 4)Ghetto/Trailer Mentality (Mike Tyson, Zab Judah, Pacman Jones), 5)steroids (bonds, El Feroz any other recent boxer), 6) pure @hole. 7) Cocky SOB (Malignaggis of the world) 8) Trying another career like rapping/acting/singing (Pacquiao, DLH, Deion Sanders) You can make a case that steroids and being an a-hole go hand and hand.

Here's the thing that really seperates the d*ckheads amongst jerks. Have you personally ever been wronged by any professional athletes in real life?

I generally like athletes who have very good public speaking skills and who have a sense of culture (I mean people who live outside of the boundaries that they were taught and raised, so they mingle with other different people).

I don't blame the @holes or ghetto/trailer mental athletes of the world. Its just how they are raised. I TRY not to pay money to these athletes to inflate their ego, but it doesn't bother me personally.

And you have to realize that sometimes athletes love playing the villian and THE MEDIA picks and chooses how athletes are portrayed too.

Why do fans care how a fighter is as a person? Am I wrong for not caring whats a fighters says or what trouble they get into outside of the ring? I only watch a fighter inside the ring only not what he does with his family or anybody else good or bad.

Dude your simply not following what we are saying

Outside the ring behavior doesnt affect legacy inside the ring.

Outside the ring affects who fans chose to support, or cheer for.

With that being said, what are we talking about? Who cares who I am a fan of?

Although Mike Tyson has done some terrible things both in and out the ring, I'm still a big fan of him. He's brought too many highlight reels and is too unique of an athlete for me to stop liking because he may be a scumbag out the ring.

There are some other cases where I hate certain fighters for being pieces of **** outside the ring. Tony Ayala should just die already.

It doesn't always make sense. I admit it.

Back in the old days, even further back than my day, boxers tried to be more than the gutter they were born in....and trash talking was I'll murder the bum.
The old guys were more seriouse, in it was a profession....and they too came 96% from the gutter, but had any one mouthed thier mothers, wives, or girl friends, the gutter fight would have happened right then and there. There was a difference between hype and trash talking.....now there seems to be no difference. They are not trying to appeal to all classes but tothe lowest class...Look how bad I am....
    BFD
The highest paid man of the 1950's TV days was Dick Tiger and he was terrible at the hype....I think it will be an intersting fight.....
Tiger was getting $15,000 and every other name was getting $12,500 max...
$2,500 was the price of a big high classed car, like a Buick. A new three bedroom house was $22,000....
He let his fists do his talking.
Yes I do think **** out side the ring counts.
As to Merryweather...he'd given at Welter Robinson a good fight....and he has fought better men than Jones...
Once men tried to step out of the gutter, now they step into it on purpose....
Accepatable behavior has gone down hill...Boxing is no longer the acceptable sport it was, it has become a gutter sport, with gutter personalites giving it a bad name.
