To use an example lets pick Ward. The man beats everyone in front of him and becomes the champion. Do his fans then go on about how Ward beat the great Froch and Kessler ect? No they say ha! Ward pwned them eurobum eurotrash ***gots who fight liek cavemen and are really overated!.
So in effect with their childish name calling what they actually do is paint a picture of a scenario where Ward is actually not very good because all he has ever beaten is overhyped eurotrash and weight drained fighters. So in effect hes just the best of a very poor bunch?
This isnt the reality ofc but its what many ward fans seem to be sugegsting without them realising lol

there are 3 types of fans :

    1. objective fans who arent too fussed about where the fighter comes from and just wants to see a good fight, and the best man win

    2. 'fans' who are over invested in the accompishments of others, who are sometimes blinded by nationality, and probably need to be busier and more active in their own lives so they accompish more

    In principle you're right, but...

Calling your favorite's fighter his best opponents bums is merely because they like to rub it in to the fans of those other boxers or to insult a whole continent.
But of course anyone knows these guys aren't really bums. It's just the way fans treat other fans on the internet.
